- Under coach Scott Murray and his Patriots coaching staff, White House-Heritage has been a consistent, steady winner over the past several years and I expect their winning ways to continue throughout the 2026 season. Last year saw the Patriots win their region and they will be the team to beat again this year. It will be a little bit of a different team as several new starters will be implemented while new players step to the forefront. One constant is their quarterback and when you have a multi-year starter behind center, you already have an advantage and that's what the Patriots have going into the Fall football year along with one of the better playmakers on the Class 3A level.

- If the Patriots are to be successful this coming season, it will start with the play of Murray. This senior signal caller performed well coming off an injury last Fall and Murray should be in full health for the 2026 season where he has a shot at not only competing for Mr. Football but help guide his team to a potential region title. Murray is a multi-year starter with leadership and a great feel for the game. He understands how to run his offense and do the things necessary to win ball games. He is also a solid passer that reads defenses well along with enough mobility to be considered a dual threat. If his arm strength has improved and Murray has regained his mobility, this senior quarterback should have a big year, which in-turn should put the Patriots in contention for titles

#TN2027 (Ath) [player_tooltip player_id='1909567' first='Mar'Shaun' last='Fletcher']

- Coming off a breakout junior season, Fletcher returns to potentially put forth another strong year and he will be needed to do so for the Patriots to compete for championships. This senior two-way talent is the team's top overall playmaker that can change games in an instant with his athleticism and speed as well as his football knowledge. Fletcher is a deep threat on offense that can get behind defenders while he is a ball hawk on defense that shows flashes of being able to compete on an island. The biggest thing this off-season for Fletcher was to get bigger and stronger and if he has done so, you might see an even more productive senior year that could get this natural athlete into the Mr. Football conversation. Fletcher is certainly the team's top X-Factor player and someone very important to the Patriots success.

#TN2027 (DE/Edge) [player_tooltip player_id='1726932' first='Bradley' last='Butler']

- Butler broke on the scene last year for his Patriots defense and became the team's top pass rusher but I know he has higher levels to his game that I believe should start to show throughout the coming 2026 season. This guy is a max effort, high motor competitor that brings a versatile skill set up front where he can play with his hand in the dirt or stand up off the edge. Butler doesn't have the ideal size (6'1 210) but he makes up for it with a high end competitive nature and football intelligence that tends to put him around the action. His play and performance this Fall season will be critical towards his defense's and team's success. If Butler can consistently get himself into the backfield, he will throw opposing offenses off schedule and put his defense in position to get off the field early. Having a big senior year might also boost his recruiting profile as well.

#TN2027 (LB) [player_tooltip player_id='1588275' first='Dricus' last='Williams']

- One of the more athletic prospects on the Patriots roster is this senior linebacker that started to come into his own last year as a junior but Williams might be in-store for his best season yet this Fall. Standing 6 '2 200 plus pounds, Williams has the physical look and athletic traits to lead his team in tackles this year while also boosting his stock and showing college coaches his worth. Where this senior linebacker can be an X-Factor this season is his work in diagnosing the run game quicker and attacking while also showing improvement in pass coverage. The Patriots senior is a strong competitor that has gotten better each step of the way throughout his high school career. Williams may be ready to completely break through this Fall where he is a definite team leader and potential All-State performer.

#TN2028 (WR/S) Jalen Hamilton

- Hamilton gained experience last year but he should be stepping into bigger roles on both sides of the ball this season where he should become one of the team's top offensive targets and a potential ball hawk in the secondary. Standing 6 '0 with a frame that can pack on more size, Hamilton is an intriguing talent that could become a major X-Factor player for the Patriots this coming Fall season. What I see on film with Hamilton is someone with athletic flashes and size that can make a difference on the 3A level and someone still coming into his own, so it will be interesting to see how he has progressed throughout his junior year. If this two-way Mid-Tennessee product takes that next proper step, the Patriots might have an impactful player and future leader on their hands.

Three Other X-Factor Players to Watch

‘27 (DT) [player_tooltip player_id='2083931' first='Maxson' last='Bland']: The Patriots might be sneaky good on the defensive line this year but that depends on the play from this senior big man. Bland is an active and athletic guy that shows flashes of disruptive play but that must occur on a consistent basis this season for him and his defense to be legit. Bland fits best on the interior but has enough versatility to play at defensive end when needed. He can be someone that plays in the backfield this year and if he does that consistently, Bland will certainly become an X-Factor guy.

‘28 (RB/S) Jaxson Bagwell: All signs point towards Bagwell taking over the starting role at running back this season and if he steps forward to produce, his X-Factor meter certainly rises in a major way. This rising junior is a compact, strong and elusive runner that should become a solid compliment to Murray and the Patriots passing attack. Bagwell isn't the biggest of backs but he can become a possible 1,000 yard rusher with quickness and vision.

‘28 (OL/DL) [player_tooltip player_id='2213231' first='Cory' last='Nelson']: The Patriots coaching staff are replacing several key starters from last year's O-line, so they will be needing guys like Nelson to step forward and take on leadership roles. This rising junior has the size to make a difference up front along with an athletic profile and frame that can be built out much further. Nelson may be one of the bigger sleepers on this team when it comes to the next level, so it will be interesting to see how he performs this season.
