News and Notes: Elite DE/Edge Transfers To Lovington

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If Lovington wasn't already one of the favorites to win the Class 4A state title in November, they probably are now.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1606138' first='Amryn' last='Wheeler']</strong>, one of the top 2027 defensive ends and pass rushers in the state, announced Tuesday that he will transfer to Lovington after playing for Hobbs the past couple of years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Last season, Wheeler had 57 tackles, 10.0 TFL, 4.5 sacks and an impressive 28 QB hurries. A couple of years ago, Lewallen was a starter for the Jaguars and one of the top young OL prospects in the state. Behrens began the month of June without any offers, but soon picked up offers from Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands following camps. Last week, he camped at SUU in Cedar City, UT and impressed the Thunderbirds coaching staff so much that he was offered immediately upon the conclusion of the camp.
