2027 eye-catchers from LSU’s outdoor 7v7 tournament

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Louisiana's rainy June weather changed up the anticipated schedule and field for LSU's annual high school 7-on-7 tournament, but after a week's postponement, 24 teams from around the state ultimately managed to link up on the Tigers' outdoor practice fields for the event. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A slew of student-athletes stood out throughout the day, including several 2027 and 2028 prospects. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at some of the top rising seniors who caught our eye, or <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/06/lsu-7v7-outdoors-2026-eyecatchers-2028-class/">click here for more notes on rising juniors who did so</a>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Note: This is not intended to be a comprehensive "top performers" list, a largely impossible task with 12 different games occurring at all times, including four simultaneous championships for different divisions. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1250291' first='Alex' last='Fontenot'] — 6-2, 190 WR — Alexandria </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1250281' first='Karsen' last='Sellers'] — 6-2, 185 QB — Alexandria</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The biggest note of the day has to go to the rising senior quarterback-receiver tandem that torched their way up and down the fields to help headline the Trojans' undefeated romp through the event's top division. Alexandria was stout all-around and was far more than a two-man show. Even offensively, Sellers was able to get several weapons involved all over the field. But the connection with Fontenot, who repeatedly broke free of defenders and went streaking down the field for deep shots, is one of the best in the state and was on full display throughout the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1610149' first='Jakyrin' last='Griffin'] — 5-10, 170 DB — Alexandria</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1611413' first='Letravious' last='Williams'] — 5-8, 160 DB — Alexandria</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Give the Trojans' defensive group some flowers as well. Alexandria managed to slow down some otherwise-effective opposing offenses throughout the day, including some big three-and-out stops to quickly return the ball to Sellers, Fontenot and company to keep lighting up the scoreboard. And the rising senior safety duo had its fingerprints all over that effort, diagnosing plays as they unfolded and consistently shutting down passing windows for deflections and sacks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='934578' first='Jye' last='Blain'] —&nbsp;5-10, 160 DB —&nbsp;St. James</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>St. James often garners praise for its explosive offense, but the its defense may have been among the day's best with at least one early shutout and a long list of stops and takeaways to keep their opposing scores consistently low. And the Wildcats' recently Louisiana Tech-committed defensive back has his hand in on his share of pivotal plays in the process. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='406748' first='Franky' last='Frank Jr.'] —&nbsp;6-0, 170 DB — Cecilia</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bulldogs' soon-to-be four-year starter has been a highly ranked defensive back prospect on Prep Redzone Louisiana lists throughout his high school career, but he was also a top offensive weapon for Cecilia during the LSU event, including a few end zone trips, for a glimpse of a bigger role on that side of the ball expected this upcoming senior season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1250280' first='Ryan' last='Moore Jr.'] — 5-10, 160 ATH — East Feliciana </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another notable two-way performance, "Bug" showcased his quickness and instincts as both a go-to target for his Tigers and one of their top defensive backs as they overcame an early loss to Metairie Park Country Day to battle back, earn a spot in the Division-IV title game and get their revenge against the Cajuns to take home the crown. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1323402' first='Miguel' last='Whitley'] — 6-0, 180 WR — St. Augustine</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Purple Knights lost some steam in the back half of pool play and fell short of the Division-I title game. But they were clicking early, and when they were, the recently Ole Miss-committed wide receiver was looking very much the part of the highest-ranked prospect in attendance. Whitley produced a few highlight-reel catches during the afternoon with his dangerous speed and also his ability to go up and beat defenders — even two at a time — to the catch-point for leaping grabs deep downfield.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
