June is off and running and with it comes the apex point in camp season.

The time to optimize collegiate exposure as much as possible, as well as fine-tune skills for this fall.

It is also roadtrip time as rising-star ballers get out and travel to the different locations and get a better idea how they stack up outside the usual competition and get to see how different schools operate and approach the business-side of the game.

Exposure is key, obviously, but from a grinder point of view it also means ruthlessly self-assessing and putting in the time and effort to turn a weakness into a strength.

In this report we are taking a look at three young-gun quarterbacks and a couple of versatile athletes who have been doing just that, balancing exposure with continuous improvement as they come down the home stretch to the season.

So, without further adieu, let's see what these guys have been doing as we roll through June getting ready for fall:

[player_tooltip player_id='1487563' first='Colton' last='Elmore'], 5'10, 180, QB, Wellington, '28, up first is a dual-threat gunslinger I have had my eye on for a couple of years now and he has not disappointed. Last fall he led 4A in passing yards with 1,700+ and also added another 460 as a shifty, explosive runner, piling up 21 TDs. As a passer he has fluid mechanics, quick release and is equally effective from the pocket or throwing on the move. When extending plays he is a dangerous runner but also makes things happen with his versatile arm, throwing off platform, from different arm angles or layering the ball in on the long touch pass. His off-season has been busy and really ramps up this month as he started team camp this week and is headed to the Missouri 7v7 on Friday. He also plans on hitting camps at Washburn and Fort Hays, among others. This guy is ready for a huge season leading the Crusader attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='1657257' first='Cole' last='Ranieri'], 6'1, 190, QB/LB, Nemaha Central, '28, up next for the loaded junior class is a gunslinger who has been impressing this off-season on the camp-combine circuit showcasing his athleticism and high-ceiling skills as a dual-threat quarterback. After backing up an all-state QB last year he picked up good experience learning the trade and will finally get a chance to be the man this fall. As mentioned he has looked good at the numerous camps he has attended and most recently ripped off a speedy 4.25 pro agility at the Baker camp and a 4.6 forty earlier. He has been fine-tuning his passing game this off-season as well as lifting hard and is playing basketball this summer to stay in shape. Coming off a state-championship season this multi-sport athlete has some big shoes to fill and so far has shown he is up to the task of making sure the Thunder continue their winning ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='1488557' first='Cael' last='Claibourn'], 6'2, 200, QB, Emporia, '29, up next is a baller QB coming off a solid freshman season when he picked up experience and quickly acclimated to the varsity game. Once he got on the field he was able to give coaches and fans a glimpse of things to come, running and passing for 250+ yards and three touchdowns. Once the season ended he transitioned to basketball and then rolled into 7v7 where he had a good season playing with the Kansas Colts. His spring and early summer has been busy playing basketball and getting on the camp-combine circuit. He recently returned from Central Missouri and will be at Washburn today, followed by KU next week and Oklahoma State the week after. He has also been fine-tuning passing mechanics and getting in a lot of throwing. Look for this athletic gunslinger to help accelerate the Emporia turnaround this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560943' first='Maddon' last='Brittingham'], 6'2, 210, RB/ATH, Lawrence Free State, '27, up first for the skill guys is a hybrid running back/receiver who is an explosive threat whenever he has the ball in hand. He is coming off a standout junior year when he rushed for 1,151 yards, averaging 7+ per carry, and scored 17 TDs. He put an exclamation point on it when he blistered Olathe East in the playoffs, carrying the ball 21 times for 283 yards and scored an eye-popping, school-record 7 TDs. Fast and physical, he blows through arm tackles and has the burst to break the long one. On the other side of the ball he is a headhunter defender who plays sideline-to-sideline and had 66 tackles and 6 tackles for loss last fall. His off-season has been rolling along well with offers from the guys at West Point, Air Force and Washburn among others and showed well once again last weekend at the KU Camp. This guy is shifting into beast-mode this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1557290' first='Gavin' last='Heller'], 6'3, 185, WR, Mill Valley, '28, and last but certainly not least we have a hybrid receiver who can play in tight or in the slot if needed but has really shown his game split out as a wide receiver. With prototype size, length and athleticism, he creates immediate separation coming off the ball before rolling into precise routes and consistently making the contested catch in traffic. With his reach and ability to high-point the ball, he has an expanding catch radius that is difficult to defend. This off-season he has been busy and after a standout 7v7 season with Strongside, has been lifting hard and training with TopSpeed as well as his teammates in team workouts. He is also headed to the South Dakota camp, followed up by a team camp at K-State and then NW Missouri State camp. This guy has gotten bigger, faster and is ready for a breakout season this fall.

In conclusion, get out and see these guys dominate this fall - you will not be disappointed. Also, DM me via X if you run across any players flying under the radar.
