2028 Rankings: CBA-Syracuse Top Target, Will Smith Lead John Jay?

The 2028 Rankings have release and we have a loaded RB room in New York State, filled top to bottom with talent from all across the state. Forty-Three Wide Receivers appear ranked with more on our watch list. In this article, we take a look at a few Wide Receivers from across the State of New York, who have made their presence felt on the football field.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    Background: Mike is a prospect who has risen in the rankings, and has reached the #2 spot at the WR Position. Mike is a versatile prospect, who can play on both sides of the field, showing some reps at the DB position.   Measurables: Mike has solid measurements, standing at 5'10" 170-Pounds. He is on the slimmer side for a WR, and can look to add more weight to fill out his frame. The 180-Pound mark should be the minimum for him.   Evaluation: Mike is a true #1 threat and shows good presence on the field. He has excellent footwork and a good first step off the line. Downfield he is a threat, and can stay balanced tracking the ball and showing good vision as a pass catcher. He is an excellent route runner, who can line up anywhere on the field, and shows a high IQ, allowing him to plant his feet and make sharp cuts at the top of his routes. He has excellent hands, and a good vertical allowing him to make contortion catches with ease. He can add more physicality at the POA with his catches, which will benefit him against stronger, bigger DB's. Overall, a true D1 Prospect with untapped potential.     Background: Smith is a newer prospect who has caught the attention of the Prep Redzone NY scouts. He had an impressive showcase a few weeks ago in Warwick, and has the potential to be the top target for John Jay this season.   Measurables: Smith has a solid frame standing at 5'10" 180-Pounds. And as he grows should look to fill out and add weight. For now his frame is perfect for the WR position.   Evaluation: Smith has untapped potential and showcases the ability to play all over the field with LB, WR, and RB being the positions I can see him at. He has reps all over the field, but at WR, he showcases a high IQ, and the ability to understand and carve through defensive schemes. I like his get off the line, as he displays the ability to gain separation. Smith has good hands, and can make catches through contact showing good physicality which is important when facing strong DB's. Smith is a young raw WR, to watch in the 2028 class moving forward, and I think he can easily have a breakout campaign this season.     Background: Braiotta is another new name to the 2028 Prep Redzone New York Rankings, and the Harrison prospect can make some noise in Section One this year, as he can play on both sides of the ball at WR, and DB.   Measurables: Braiotta had an excellent frame for the WR, and DB positions, standing at 5'10" 190-Pounds. He is ready for the next level but if he continues to grow, he should add weight to fill out his frame.   Evaluation: Braiotta is a versatile player, and can play on both sides of the ball, and also suits up on the basketball court for Harrison. Braiotta has excellent vision, and can make contortion catches across the field. He moves well laterally, and finds himself used as a Redzone threat. He has strong hands, and can rack up catches through contact. I want to see him improve off the line, and using his hands more to gain separation is something I think will benefit the young 2028 prospect moving forward. Harrison could have a future star in Braiotta, and he is easily a name to monitor in 2026.     Background: Dauksza like his brother Graham suits up for Fayetteville-Manlius in Section Three. Both brothers came to the Warwick Showcase last month and made their presence known amongst some top prospects in the state. Athan found himself ranked for the first time as well.   Measurables: Dauksza has true WR height standing at 6'0", but his weight is where the young prospect should look to improve. Reaching the 185-190-Pound mark is minimum for Dauksza as he heads towards his Junior Season.   Evaluation: Dauksza has limited film, and is a player who easily should be a player to make noise this season for FM. Dauksza was in the middle of the pack for the combine testing, which left him in the bottom half of the receivers on my board. He quickly changed my mimd during indy, and 1v1. Dauksza made a number of good catches, and showed good promise with his route running. He was exceptional at gaining separation, and I enjoyed watching him and his brother work each rep. He does have a decent amount to work on, but I liked what I saw, and he is on his way to becoming a high level talent at WR.
