Recruiting Notebook: Top Underclassmen Earn Big Offers

With spring practices and college days under way, college camps looming large, and the upcoming fall season right around the corner, we are taking a look ahead at some under-the-radar prospects who plan to make a name for themselves over the next few months. Here are four standouts who pop on film and have taken their recruiting up a notch with strong showings during spring ball.    Michigan and Purdue have jumped in and offered Miami-Ohio commit [player_tooltip player_id='1866013' first='DJ' last='Mitchell']. The Class of 2027 cornerback for Franklin Central High School is a player we've been high on since he stepped onto the field. Mitchell is a strong cover corner with great ball skills. He can cover deep fades, whip his head around and play the ball. Very good use-of-hands to time the ball effectively for pass breakups; we're excited about his potential.     [player_tooltip player_id='1678505' first='Mykell' last='Tanner'] is a talented class of 2028 wide receiver for Warren Central who recently picked up his first offer from Bowling Green State. Teams are undoubtedly taking an interest in Tanner due to his speed and burst. Tanner is a slot receiver at the next level, using his explosiveness and quickness in/out of his breaks to get open and be a playmaker. Big name to know in the 2028 class.     Warren Central is stacked with underclassmen talent, and starting athlete Nathan Stokes is a big reason why. The Class of 2028 tailback has great speed and explosiveness. He flies to the football no matter where he plays; as a kickoff coverage man he takes great pursuit angles and wraps up, and can deliver heavy hits. He does a great job of chasing down ballcarriers who break free in space and bringing them down. With two years still remaining, the sky is the limit on his potential. Picked up a Bowling Green offer.     [player_tooltip player_id='2071448' first='Leo' last='McQuillan'] is a talented tight end for Brownsburg who adjusts to the ball well and is a solid pass catcher. Although he lacks ideal size, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end makes up for it with his soft hands and ability to quickly catch, tuck, get vertical and gain positive yards. He can maintain balance through contact and keep churning forward for positive yards. Keep an eye on him during college camps. Picked up offers from Butler and Bowling Green.
