PRZNY Showcase: Positional Group Grades

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In preparation for Prep RedZone's New York showcase-I'll be taking a look at each of the position groups that will be in attendance. I'll be attaching an explanation of the grade and some of the pluses and minuses for each of the groups to do a bit of a dive into each one. We've got some fantastic young athletes coming to compete and I know they're all going to show out!<br><br><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">QBs:</span></strong> <br><strong>Grade: A</strong>+<br>There are some excellent quarterbacks in this group-and they accompany all different types of styles of play. There are some quarterbacks that lean more towards athleticism and improvisation, others that flash more timing and rhythm, and others still that flash extraordinary arm strength. I'm particularly looking forward to watching St. Anthony's quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1674976' first='Jacob' last='Fortin']. He's got excellent size and the ability to get some air under the ball. [player_tooltip player_id='1561071' first='Javon' last='Thompson'] will also be attending, who I've watched at a few different events, and he's amazingly accurate.<br><br><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">RBs:</span></strong><br><strong>Grade: C+</strong><br>The running back group has a bit more athletes attending than other groups around the same grade, but there are some size concerns. Most of the backs are undersized and I could see them having trouble with blocking. They do, however, have some wiggle and speed to them. They don't have a single, standout athlete that I'm looking forward to seeing, but I am looking forward to seeing how the group holds up in competition.<br><br><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">WRs:</span></strong><br><strong>Grade: A+</strong><br>The receiver group is the best of the showcase, in my opinion. It's headlined by [player_tooltip player_id='2076944' first='J'Shon' last='Goolsby'], a future P4 football player who's got twitch, wiggle, and elite ball skills. It's got more depth than any of the other groups attending, and lots of different body sizes/athletic profiles. [player_tooltip player_id='1466402' first='Jakari' last='Hill'] is another athlete i'm looking forward to seeing-he's got versatility and home run speed. We'll be seeing bigger, jump ball receivers; twitched up speedsters; and route artists. It'll be a fantastic group.<br><br><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">TEs:</span></strong><br><strong>Grade: C</strong><br>I'm a bit concerned about the size at the tight end position. There's unfortunately not too many of this particular position group attending. The guys that are attending are legitimate pass catchers, and excellent at tracking the football, but they haven't quite grown to the size of college tight ends yet. They'll be a reliable group, but I expect the receivers to be a bit flashier and stand out better.<br><br><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">OL:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Grade: C+</strong><br>This offensive line group, unlike the defensive line group, is a little undersized. There are still some very interesting players to watch, like 6'3 offensive lineman from St. Anthony's, [player_tooltip player_id='1895965' first='Rocco' last='Scalise'], but the rest of the group may be a bit outmatched by the larger defensive line. It's also a bit of a younger group, so they will get some valuable experience. I'll definitely be most keen to see how the offensive line holds up against the large defensive line group.<br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">DL:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Grade: B</strong><br>We've got some big boys coming for the defensive line, they've got some fantastic size. This group is going to be ready to compete, and I'm excited to watch them. I think I'm most excited to watch [player_tooltip player_id='1367091' first='Aiden' last='Rivera'], a jumbo, 6'3, highly ranked offensive lineman in the class of 2028. He's already 6'3 and he's likely not done growing! I'm a little concerned about their bend and athleticism as a group, but it'll be interesting to watch and see if they can prove me wrong.<br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">LBs:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Grade: B</strong>+<br>There's a surprising amount of linebackers attending the showcase, and the group is impressive. They have some really good size, and some really good physical tools. I think I'm most looking forward to watching [player_tooltip player_id='2078016' first='Blake' last='Klaffka']. He's a 2029 with really good size who has been grinding this offseason. I'll be interested to see how this group, with their fantastic size, stacks up against the faster running back group.<br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">DBs:</span></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Grade: A</strong><br>This showcase will be a bit short on DB's-but the ones that are attending are excellent. [player_tooltip player_id='1367178' first='Darren' last='Garrett'] headlines the group. He's a legitimate D1 prospect with a fantastic motor who's going to both take a lot of and dominate a lot of reps. [player_tooltip player_id='1803713' first='Marcus' last='Abellard'] is another fantastic defensive back who's got more length to him and is sure to give even the bigger receivers fits. This is a physical, athletic group who's going to go out there and compete.<br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
