Saturday's Prep Redzone Exposure Series Camp at Albuquerque High School featured many outstanding performances by 2028 and 2029 prospects, particularly at the quarterback position. Here are some of the young players (rising sophomores and juniors) who caught our eye:

[player_tooltip player_id='1613367' first='Cash' last='Brewer'], La Cueva: The 6-foot-2, 205 Brewer demonstrated Saturday he will be a major weapon for the Bears on offense this season as a tight end. His elite athleticism was on full display. Tested well, and then made a leaping catch over a defender during 1-on-1 drills. Runs sharps routes as well, often losing defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1362443' first='Izaiah' last='Casaus'], Atrisco Heritage: Casaus, a rising junior, is one of the top young quarterbacks in the Albuquerque Metro Region. He has nice size at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds and possesses a strong, accurate arm, rarely missing open receiver. Casaus and the Jaguars' offense could be explosive this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2114563' first='Julian' last='Fernandez'], Grants: Already one of the top young running backs in New Mexico, Fernandez displayed his impressive skill set on Saturday. Confident ball carrier, able to catch passes out of the backfield and runs well. Impressively strong fr a 2029 prospect. Deadlifts over 400 pounds. Already attracting recruiting interest.

[player_tooltip player_id='2182154' first='Aldo' last='Gallegos'], Las Cruces: Gallegos is the new starting quarterback for the Bulldawgs. Dynamic dual threat. Very good at rolling out and throwing on the run. Also very accurate on deep balls. The Bulldawgs' offense will have a different look in 2026 with Gallegos directing the attack.

[player_tooltip player_id='1686972' first='Chris' last='Lopez'], La Cueva: By this point, everybody knows about Lopez's speed. So, when he won the award for best 40 time at Saturday's camp, nobody was surprised. But Lopez combines that speed with excellent pass catching and ruin-running skills. How dynamic will the La Cueva offense be in 2026? Very.

[player_tooltip player_id='1613476' first='Christian' last='Morales'], St. Pius X: Morales showed off his speed and his pass-catching talents. Morales will have a much bigger role in the Sartans' offense this season after their top receiver from last season moved to Arizona. Huge season ahead for Morales.

[player_tooltip player_id='2178840' first='Rohan' last='Patel'], Los Lunas: Looks like Los Lunas to about to unleash Patel on an unsuspecting public. Even though he's just a rising sophomore, Patel has impressive size (6-3, 195 pounds) and a rocket arm. The first two games for Los Lunas are road contests at Mayfield and Rio Rancho, so Patel and the Tigers offense will need to be ready.

[player_tooltip player_id='1667558' first='Nate' last='Vazquez'], Goddard: The Rockets are one of the most improved teams in Class 5A. Vazquez had a solid sophomore season in 2025 and he showed Saturday he's preparing for a better junior year. Excellent dual threat skills. Throws a good ball and has nice speed.

Crew Victor, Rio Rancho: Victor fashioned one of the best stories in New Mexico HS football as an 8th-grader in 2025. He's bigger, stronger and his arm strength and accuracy have improved. Extremely accurate on deep balls. Rio Rancho smartly has a package of plays for him this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1988470' first='Ezra' last='Wagner'], Sandia: Wagner quickly showed off his speed on Saturday. He played nearly every snap on defense for the Matadors last season. He has the size and speed to play linebacker or defensive back. I suspect Sandia will utilize him in a hybrid nickel role where all his talents can harnessed..
