SPARTANBURG | The Carolinas Coaches Combines have brought something different to South Carolina.

While a number of schools have wearable GPS devices at their fingertips year round, even more do not. So putting every player who attend the combine at Spartanburg this past Sunday was huge.

On top of the laser-timed 40s, 185-pound bench press, broad jump and the rest of the standard event fare, we also have the type of across-the-board GPS speed figures to inform and analyze data in a larger scale.

The combine joined forces with PlayerData beginning with this year's events. We've already broken down what that information said about Woodland. Now, we can do the same with Spartanburg.

As a reminder, all of PlayerData's keys are set the same for high school athletes as they are for college clients. The translation from this level to the next, then, is much more streamlined.

Let's get to the biggest highlights.

22-MPH CLUB

The prize for the fastest player in the state is a one-man operation.

Fort Mill receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1820446' first='Jameson' last='Terrell'] (pictured) not only busted out the top vertical leap (32.5 inches) and broad jump (10 feet, 7 inches) of Session I, he also put up a blazing 22.3 miles per hour during the event that led four sites across two states.

The only other player at Spartanburg to surpass the 22-mph threshold was Cheraw athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1271257' first='Nick' last='Gordon'] - who reached 22.2.

No other player in the event's two South Carolina sites or two North Carolina sites reached speeds as fast as theirs.

Those are some solid bragging rights.

21-MPH CLUB

Last year's event included a large number of players who hit 22 mph in the previously used system. That didn't happen Sunday, and the fact that PlayerData is queuing its devices in full-second intervals was a big reason why. It doesn't mean the players were slower; in fact, it means any speed listed below was holding their top end longer and not simply getting credit for a micro-burst (of one-half second).

In total, three players among the hundreds who competed between the three sessions at Spartanburg hit 21 miles per hour.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581471' first='Isaiah' last='Robinson'] WR, Byrnes - 21.8 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1825516' first='Jyree' last='Grady'] DB, River Bluff - 21.2 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1667267' first='J'von' last='Kelly'] RB, Andrew Jackson - 21.2 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1667977' first='Aidyn' last='Wiggins'] DB, Byrnes - 21.1 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1817067' first='Joshua' last='McClure'] DL, South Pointe - 21.0 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1772596' first='Chris' last='Dean'] RB, Emerald - 21.0 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1816732' first='Rasean' last='Brown'] RB, South Pointe - 21.0 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1149055' first='Nasir' last='Waldrop'] RB, Powdersville - 21.0 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1818241' first='Marquiel' last='Troupe'] WR, Blue Ridge - 21.0 mph

Presumably, each of those players likely hit their marks during the straight-line 40-yard dashes. We can't know that for sure since players were also hitting their personal gas pedals at various points throughout the day's events.

However, these figures can all be considered top-level for the high school level. For a point of reference most football fans can digest, the highest-end miles per hour for this spring's NFL combine were between 22.1-24.07 for the fastest groups.

20.5-MPH CLUB

Another 21 players hit at least 20.5 miles per hour Sunday.

This group ranged from outside skill position players who normally need their wheels to those we don't typically associate with pure speed.

Tack on another 50 players who fell between 20.0-20.4 miles per hour and speed was clearly the predominant theme Sunday at Spartanburg. (Because of the sheer number of players in that realm, we aren't listing them all here.)

Niq Watson WR, Byrnes - 20.9 mph

[player_tooltip player_id='1172363' first='Khristian' last='Jackson'] WR, Ridge View - 20.9 mph

Elijah Terry DB, Riverside - 20.9 mph
