Best Defensive Linemen - CFI MEGA Showcase

Charlotte Football Insiders (CFI) hosted over 230 players this past Saturday at Ballantyne Ridge High School in Charlotte, NC. Players at all positions played well, and as of this article, 13 players have received offers!   In this article, we will continue with our positional breakdowns, moving on to the defensive line! This group had a nice mix of interior defensive linemen and edge players who were impactful throughout the entire showcase. Let's dive in!    Makai was dominant all throughout the 1 on 1 portion of the showcase against offensive linemen. Even when he went against the best offensive linemen at the end of the showcase, Makai's burst and bend were next level. He's grown physically since the last time I saw him up close, and he's a prospect who could explode this summer once he gets on some college campuses and shows what he can do.     Christopher is probably the best defensive lineman you don't really know. His burst and ability to shoot gaps and gain instant penetration on interior offensive linemen is impressive. Because of where he plays, he doesn't get a ton of attention, but he's consistently performed well when I've seen him, and it's starting to become a pattern. Even though Christopher doesn't have the ideal height, I think the leverage actually helps his overall game. I'm going to keep a close eye on him this season.     Graysen has transitioned from Atkins High School and is now at West Forsyth, where he should make an immediate impact. Graysen was an All-Conference player last season, and I like how he uses his hands to shed an offensive lineman's hands when they try to fit on his inside frame. Graysen's feet don't stop moving on contact, and he has a couple of quick inside moves when he uses his hands to get to the quarterback on his pass rush. He's developed steadily every year, and he's got a big junior year ahead of him.     This was my first time seeing Duke in a strict EDGE position, and I see why schools are high on him and his future. Duke is long and lean, but he's got a really good first step, and he's got some great arm length to use to get around the edge against offensive tackles. In the agility circuit, I like how Duke moves overall with his athletic and speed profile as a prospect. He's got an extremely bright future, and I'd expect some more Division 1 offers to come his way with a strong summer camp season.     Blake was a strong interior pass rushing prospect at this showcase. I liked his effort consistently in everything he did, but most notably in the 1 on 1 period. One thing I like to see is defensive players not to stay blocked, and Blake did a very good job of defeating an initial punch, getting off the block attempt with his hands, and getting penetration in his pass rush attempts. I can easily see him being an impact player for the Wolfpack this upcoming season.     Out of this group, I would say Bryss was definitely the most unknown player to most people in attendance at the showcase. But, at 6'1 and 210, you figure Bryss still has some room to grow physically. And his speed off the edge caused problems for tackles so often that it was hard to deny that he was one of the best EDGE prospects during the showcase. I would like to check out his tape to see how he plays the run, but in passing situations he can definitely cause some problems and get to the quarterback and be disruptive.
