PRZ Garden State Gridiron 7v7: SlimeU 10U Capsule

Taking my maiden voyage into the 10u 7v7 scene, what was quickly apparent it that kids on this level are several years away from being legitimate football prospects -- and that's OK. They are very clearly still learning the game and obviously still developing physically. However, even at this tender age, there were still some kids who stood out a bit. Here's a look.    QB1 for the SlimeU 10U squad was King Mercado. Mercado had a thicker, more compact build for a Quarterback. Clear power in his lower half allowed him to drive the ball down field with a simple step, rotation and follow through. This team had a nice mixture of talent, size and potential. Mercado checks all three boxes in some from or fashion.     Out of all the prospects on this SlimeU 10U squad, the most consistently productive kid in my opinion was Cornell Moody. He's already built like a Running Back with obvious muscle on a compact frame. Whether he was the first option or a check down, I don't think I saw Moody drop a ball. He was a model of consistency and got the job done when his number was called. Moody also played CB on the defensive side of the ball.     A standout on both sides of the ball, Escalera was a surprise to me once actual game play started. He didn't pass the initial eye test because he was on the smaller side, but he's an explosive kid with ball skills. He primarily played Wide Receiver and Safety, doing a great job on both sides. He's very fast and has some wiggle to him in space.     As big brother [player_tooltip player_id='1396263' first='Haiden' last='Redman'], the top 2030 Defensive Back in New Jersey, is counting down the months until he's in high school, little brother Carter Redman is set to take center stage on the youth level. Carter is built very much like his Dad, former NFL RB Isaac Redman. Carter made some nice grabs and created a bit after the catch, and was faster than I anticipated once he got moving. He's going to be a thick, strong player -- very high ceiling here.     The defense typically doesn't get a lot of love or attention during the 7v7 circuit but the Linebacker play of Cam Robinson is certainly deserving. The big Middle Linebacker showed off a lot of athleticism and the ability to cover both up the seem and in the flat. He looked the part of a future stud on the defensive side of the ball.     Don't tell Brave Wilson he was one of the smaller prospects on the field for the SlimeU 10U team, because he probably won't care. He gave up a significant amount of height to other players but he more than made up for it with his combination of quickness and strength. He had no problem mixing in press coverage as a CB and was lightning in a bottle as a Slot.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Additional Prospects of Note</h2>   David Bishop #9 - The number 9 jersey of David Bishop was the fourth number I wrote down when looking at this team take the field. Playing both Wide Receiver and Outside Linebacker for this team he's an eye-test passer right away. I was pulled in a million different directions, so I very easily could have missed a few plays, but I'm hoping to see him do more in future scouting opportunities.   Jo'San Ingram #VII - Wearing one of the most unique jersey numbers I saw this past weekend, in addition to X, ?, III and several others, Ingram was another kid that didn't initially pass the eye test, but then played well during the games. He's a bit shorter and stouter than some of the other prospects writeup, but again, there is so much time and growing to happen before it all actually matters.
