Five Standouts from You Are Athlete Columbus Showcase

<p>The You Are Athlete Columbus Showcase brought a solid group of talent together to compete against each other in a variety of events and push them to reach another level in their skillset.</p>   <p>There were several prospects that flashed their potential during this event and these xxxx players took full advantage of what the event had to offer, standing out during the afternoon.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kilbourne (OH) 2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1921554' first='Shawn' last='Rice']</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1921554' first='Shawn' last='Rice'] quickly made his mark on the event, immediately winning all of his reps early in the afternoon, standing out with his bright red sleeves and his consistent separation ability.</p>   <p>He won down the field at a strong rate and was able to snap off routes working off his downfield success to shake defensive backs off him, including one that left the defensive back on the ground.</p>   <p>He has solid size, speed and movement ability that could allow for him to have success especially from the slot position. He will be a young prospect to keep tabs on in Ohio as he was arguably the best player in attendance during the event.</p>   <p>If I had to identify a flaw in his performance, it would be that he dipped his head on a couple of reps to focus on getting downfield and in the process was washed out of a play in one rep of 7-on-7 work. However, that is fixable and as he continues to get bigger, he has the ability to build off a strong performance at the event.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Villa Angela-St Joseph (OH) 2027 DL [player_tooltip player_id='949808' first='Antonio' last='Hodges']</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='949808' first='Antonio' last='Hodges'] had his own case for the best prospect in attendance and consistently won up front with a nice mix of athleticism, strength and violence.</p>   <p>He has good size at 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds with the natural strength to blow up the anchor of offensive lineman when he can get inside their arms. He has the athleticism to work into the chest of the lineman, where he can convert some speed to power and get into the backfield.</p>   <p>He had very impressive reps in the best-on-best situation against one of the more physically gifted offensive lineman participating in the event.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Freeland (MI) 2029 DL [player_tooltip player_id='1687604' first='Ike' last='Sulfridge']</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1687604' first='Ike' last='Sulfridge'] immediately passes the eye test with a sturdy frame at 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds while being just a freshman in high school.</p>   <p>He has very long arms that helps him deconstruct blocks and efficiently work into the backfield, but his best attribute might be his ability to convert speed to power already.</p>   <p>He has the baseline traits of being long, strong and powerful, a skillset that will help create a solid floor for the prospect as he continues to add more size, explosiveness and consistency as he pushes along his natural development process.</p>   <p>He is a very intriguing young prospect to watch in the state of Michigan.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Woodridge (OH) 2028 CB [player_tooltip player_id='1775840' first='Aiden' last='Smith']</h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1775840' first='Aiden' last='Smith'] is a young cornerback prospect that showed an encouraging skillset during the event and could develop into a high-floor prospect at the nickel position.</p>   <p>He is undersized at 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds and will need to get more explosive, but he has a strong skillset that he can begin to build upon over the next two years of high school development.</p>   <p>He has natural movement skills, high IQ, good physicality and some ball skills. He was the best defensive back in the high school portion, showing good consistency and feel in both one-on-one and seven-on-seven events.</p>   <p>Smith a prospect that is currently flying under the radar that flashed a good amount of promise.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Streetsboro (OH) 2028 IOL Alan Podboy</h2>   <p>Alan Podboy immediately catches one's attention at 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds with solid fundamentals and technique, quickly standing out in the positional drill work.</p>   <p>He has a good frame with a strong anchor that has and will continue to help him seal off defensive lineman and accomplish his assignment on each play. He could rework some of the weight and as he gets even bigger, that anchor is only going to get stronger and paired with increased violence.</p>   <p>Speaking of which, he reached a new level of violence at moments during the event, including putting Hodges on the ground in the best-on-best segment of the event. I would like to see the physical tools take a step forward during his junior season, but he has a good foundation to keep building upon for the future.</p>
