2029 Watchlist to Ranked: Inside the Trenches

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">In-depth evaluations of the 2029 OL prospects that moved up from the watchlist and into the PRZ state player rankings.</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Armenta moves from the watchlist to #30 overall and is the third ranked offensive linemen in the 2029 class. Physically imposing he can play both OT or on the interior with a college ready frame at 6'5” 315 lbs. and verified early P4 attention. Generates overwhelming power at the POA, consistently displacing defenders and creating movement in the run game. Shows advanced hand usage for his age, striking with placement and strength to keep separation and control reps. Flashes a strong anchor in pass protection with the ability to absorb contact and maintain a clean pocket. Performed well playing as a freshman for one of the top programs in the country. Voted second team All-Trinity league, Maxpreps Freshman All-American, and was the MVP at the PRZ Showcase in January. 6'4” 280 lbs. he blends his natural power with plus athleticism and movement skills. He shows good initial quickness and bend off the ball to gain early positioning. At POA, he brings raw power accelerating his feet upon contact to be a violent finisher. Quick and active feet, he can get out in front as puller and match lateral movement in pass protection to stay in front. He's PRZ's top ranked 2029 prospect without an offer but is a major D1 talent that will see heavy attention going forward.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Another impressive young OL prospect out of Mater Dei. 6'2” 280 lbs. he's got a frame built for a D1 caliber OG packed with natural power and strength. Shows he can control defenders at the POA with strong hands and a well-balanced base. Initiates contact with a heavy initial strike to get opponents off their spot and open up running lanes. Demonstrates a good ability to chip block and transfer his weight to pick up the second threat in time. Can adjust on the fly to different stunts and fronts showing good awareness of his assignment. Gained valuable experience as a freshman on varsity and will see his recruitment explode as the cycle progresses.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">5'11” 285 lbs. Tongi possesses a compact frame and is an aggressive block with good play strength. Consistently takes efficient angles in the run game to put himself in position to seal and create lanes. Attacks his blocks and finishes with violence, working through the whistle and looking to put defenders on the ground. Shows he can execute a variety of blocks getting out in front as a puller and working to the second level to be effective blocking in space. He's a road grader in the run game that dominates the interior LOS to move defenders where he wants. Keeps a clean pocket from the inside by anchoring down and holding his ground against the bull rush. Use his length to his advantage to strike first, control defenders, and maintain separation throughout the play. Flashes positional flexibility across the line with the tools to project inside or outside depending on develops. Moves well for his size, showing body control and coordination in both the run game and pass protection. Displays good feet and movement skills when pulling and climbing to the second level, working efficiently to linebackers and engaging contact in space.
