Under the Radar 2029 ATH to Watch

At the end of January, we officially released our first 2029 rankings in the state of Kentucky. Since then, I have broken down the top five players at each position in the class. With that being said, I have been continuing our 2029 rankings coverage by focusing on some players who have caught my attention but are just outside the top five at their position. After already covering the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, here are some under the radar ATH to keep an eye on in the class of 2029 in the state of Kentucky who make an impact at multiple positions.    [player_tooltip player_id='1662543' first='Zyrek' last='Burton'] is a player who caught my attention when breaking down freshman year film. On offense, he saw limited carries on varsity in a crowded backfield but he was very impressive when his number was called. Burton has explosive speed which he uses to burst through the running lane then run away from the defense for big gains. He also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Zyrek finished his freshman year with 17 carries for 46 yards and two touchdowns. He also made an impact on defense, recording 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack. Burton will be an intriguing prospect to watch as his snaps continue to increase moving forward.     [player_tooltip player_id='1797185' first='Zavier' last='Rice'] is another player from Bowling Green who stood out to me as a freshman. He played on mainly the JV/freshman teams but put together some very impressive film. Rice is a skilled receiver who uses his smooth breaks and speed in his routes to create separation. He is also dangerous after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes into big gains. Rice has also shown the ability to make an impact on defense as a safety and special teams as a returner. I'm excited to see how Rice's career progresses as he earns more varsity opportunities.     [player_tooltip player_id='1303884' first='Harley' last='Gough'] made an immediate impact as a freshman. He finished the year as Doss' leading rusher, carrying the ball 75 times for 366 yards and two touchdowns in nine games. Gough is a strong runner, showing the ability to lower his shoulder and keep his feet churning through contact to break tackles with ease. He has also shown the speed to break away for long runs once he hits the second level. Harley also made an impact on defense at linebacker this past season, finishing the year with 53 tackles. Gough will be a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop over the next few years.     My final under-the-radar 2029 ATH in Kentucky who has caught my attention is [player_tooltip player_id='1781959' first='Brett' last='Adkins']. Adkins saw limited time on varsity as a freshman but made the most of it. He does a little bit of everything on offense but stood out to me on film as a receiver. Adkins is a skilled route runner, using sudden breaks in his routes to create separation. He also does a great job of getting up the field quickly to pick up yards after the catch. Brett caught 12 passes for 79 yards in nine games on the varsity level. He also ran the ball 22 times for 110 yards and four touchdowns, and played a role on defense at outside linebacker, recording 35 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one interception which he returned for a touchdown. Brett will be a player worth paying close attention to as he continues to expand his role on both sides of the ball.
