M2 Prime came into the Top Gun tournament in Greater Chicagoland with a hungry collection of Greater Chicagoland athletes seemingly ready to make a statement. This team was well rounded, fundamentally sound, and conducted business in a very machine-like manner from game one to the final buzzer. They seemed to gel stronger and draw power from every victory they racked up, and fell just short in the championship game to Nxt Level 30-28. Below are a few that made an impact in the run to the final.

This tourney was the first opportunity to observe Amorrortu in this type of competitive arena, and his natural ability stood out not only amongst his positional peers, but as one of the overall top performers during the entire tournament. Amorrortu can put it on a line and place it deep. His smooth delivery as he let it loose sent a pretty ball through the air and accurately dropped it in the bucket all weekend. He put it over the top with velocity and layered with precision placement. He showed the ability to react situationally, improvise and play on the move. The team captain showed a lot of moxie. Amorrortu has a solid floor with lots of upside and potential. He just recently transferred to Metea Valley.

Mackert plays running back at Providence Catholic but looked like a natural pass catcher all weekend, providing a consistently reliable target in the offensive attack. Mackert used his size to win one on one battles at the catch point and ran all his routes at full speed, catching the pass at full speed without hesitation. He was effective in the deep game and created mismatches over the middle. Mackert was an absolute weapon in the run to the championship game.

Sesta is a two-sport athlete that competes in a long list of track & field disciplines. As a receiver, Sesta was a versatile weapon in the offensive attack Saturday and Sunday. He was effective at all three levels and played with elusiveness and wiggle in space. Down 22-10 at halftime of the title game, Sesta beat the coverage by multiple steps down the far sideline on the first play of the second half to bring some momentum back to his sideline. Sesta caught a pair of touchdown passes and a pair of 2 point conversions contributing to 14 points on the receiving end out of the 28 on the board for M2 Prime when the clock hit zeros.

Karas was an All Tourney Team player at this event in 2025 and ran it back with another top quality performance this spring. Karas proved to be a problem in the deep game and on the perimeter. His ability to beat the coverage with speed and elevate vertically set him apart. Karas is quick and bouncy and can accelerate off the ball and after the catch. He also showed up to make plays defensively as well. On the first play offensively in the title matchup, Karas was found streaking down the right side having dusted the coverage for 6 to help give M2 Prime an early 10-0 lead.

Rodgers was unavailable on day one due to track competition, but showed up on day two, moving around with athletic ability that drew attention. Rodgers went both ways on Sunday, and was particularly competitive on the defensive side of the ball at corner. Flashes of short area quickness, suddenness and twitch made him difficult to separate from and fueled his ability to react to the ball. He can play out of the slot and the backfield between the white lines as well. Rodgers is a young player growing into the game, got varsity snaps last fall, and will be one to check back in on.

Hartnett was one of the physical looking second level frames on the hoof at this event over the weekend. He played with excellent effort to the ball, showed football instincts and intelligence, and moved well in coverage versus bigger athletes downfield. Presnap, he did a good job being vocal, communicating with his teammates and showing leadership intangibles on the field. If there was a defensive captain, he'd be that guy. Hartnett is a football player.

Horton was hardly noticeable over the weekend, as no big plays were made on his side of the field. He did everything right from pool play to the knockout stage and played a very disciplined brand of cornerback, forcing opposing quarterbacks to look elsewhere to push the ball up the field. Horton is a young prospect that will be one to watch down the road once he gets his opportunity in a loaded Mt. Carmel secondary.

"We're extremely proud of this team, with the disciplined football they played all weekend, with the energy and effort." - M2 Prime Coach Michael Wellner
