SoCal 2029 Stock Watch: Prospects Trending Up

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">In-depth analysis of the 2029 southern California prospects that are rising up recruiting boards this offseason. </h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Wilson's recruitment has been on the rise with offers coming in from Oregon State, UNLV, and Boise State. 6'1” 165 lbs. he possesses a long frame with many key physical traits that will translate well to the D1 level. Flashes his quick break on the football by planting and driving to close separation with speed. That burst allows him to recover and contest even when slightly out of position. Plus reaction time reading the QB and diagnosing route combination to trigger immediately out of his backpedal. He plays with good anticipation jumping routes and challenging throws at the catch point. Would like to see him improve on his pad level through transition but has a very recruitable frame and skillset that will bring in more offers as he develops.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Dargan is a dynamic and explosive athlete who is electric with the ball in his hands and a constant big play threat. Shows elite burst and acceleration, reaching top speed quickly and separating from defenders in the open field. His long speed stands out allowing him to outrun pursuit angles and turn routine touches into explosive gains. Carries the ball with sudden change of direction and lateral quickness, making defenders miss in space while maintaining momentum. Great ability to flip the field on screen passes and check downs. Versatility could see him transition well to multiple positions at the major D1 level and was a two way playmaker for St. Bonaventure as a freshman. First offered by UCLA in late January, he also holds offers from Oregon and Boise State.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Shuster was impressive throughout his freshman season playing for one of the top programs in the country racking up 43 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. 6'3” 210 lbs. he possesses the ideal size/frame for an elite caliber LB in combination with his outstanding athleticism and nose for the football. Demonstrates sideline to sideline range with the speed and short area burst to track down ball carriers anywhere on the field. Plays with excellent instincts and processing, quickly diagnosing run/pass and reacting without hesitation. His ability to read keys and trust his eyes allows him to consistently arrive at the ball ahead of blockers. Forceful and reliable tackler finishing plays in space and driving through contact. Tough to gain separation on, he stays attached to receivers with smooth transitions, controlled footwork, and natural coverage instincts. Holds the speed to stay in phase carrying vertical routes and the change of direction to match movement underneath. Works comfortably in multiple coverages, showing effectiveness in press situations where he can use his hands to reroute as well as in off coverage where he keeps plays in front and reacts downhill. In zone, he flashes good vision and field awareness with the range to peel off and close space as the QB works through the progression. Initial college offer from North Carolina but will explode as the cycle progresses.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Paea is an impressive young DE and a disruptive force with excellent athleticism, block recognition, and fundamentals. He shows a quick get off and explosive first step to immediately apply pressure on tackles and force offenses to react. His block recognition stands out, quickly diagnosing run/pass, reading tackles sets, and reacting to schemes like zone, pullers, and screens without hesitation. Rarely fooled or out of position, he plays with discipline while still attacking aggressively. Athletically he shows good bend, lateral agility, and closing speed run the arc or flatten down the LOS. Uses his hands with precision demonstrating proper placement, timing and ability to shed blocks efficiently. Well coach with sound technique to maintain leverage, set the edge, or fold on interior runs. As a pass rusher, he combines speed to power and counter moves to disengage and collapse the pocket.
