Rockvale has had strong performances from veterans in the past and will rely on a strong nucleus of seniors to lead the team in the 2026 season, but the long-term future of the program will be determined by the youth that the new coaching staff develops in their pipeline and the early returns are promising.

As the program enters season two under head coach James Counce, the development of the promising young talent already at Rockvale is a priority and there is a lot of potential with the group.

There is a newfound investment into the program and that has already shown up this spring with increased competition, talent level and energy within each practice. A large part of that this spring is the addition of new offensive line coach and run game coordinator James Wolff, who comes to Rockvale following eight years building and developing some of the best offensive lines in the state at Page High School. The energy around the trenches is very high and the development of the players up front on both sides of the ball will anchor this season for the Rockets.

You will not have to look far to find a dynamic young player in a prominent position as the offense will be led by 2029 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1553521' first='Arden' last='Lewis']. He is an electric athlete who rotated in at receiver as a freshman while serving as the backup quarterback. Now with the starter having graduated, it is now time for Lewis chance to run the offense and the coaching staff has full faith in him.

There are plenty of athletes on the team, but they will be looking for more competition on the perimeter and that is somewhere that 2030 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2118525' first='Nakavi' last='Gundy'] can make an immediate impact. He is a natural athlete with excellent size, already standing over six feet tall. He has a bright future ahead and is someone that could eventually make an impact at Rockvale as just a freshman.

He is not the only exciting 2030 prospect in the Rockvale system as tight end Corneilus Wade is an exciting playmaker up the seams with a large catch radius, already standing at 6-foot-3. Coming from a basketball background, he moves well for his size and age and has strong traits to build on at the high school level. While Rockvale has a strong tight end room in 2026, it will allow for him to take the next step in his development and be ready to take over for the long term.

Lewis is a player to be excited about and he should have plenty of young weapons around him to work with for a long time as Rockvale keeps building on the upward trajectory.

This team has plenty of veteran talent up front, especially along the defensive line, but good young talent offers an exponentially higher floor as a program in just year two of the Counce era.

Speaking of the defensive line, 2029 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1648774' first='Clayton' last='Jackson'] is someone that has taken a massive step forward under the new coaching staff. He has a strong frame that he will keep adding muscle upon which will only help his promising ability to disengage efficiently from blocks. He has long arms, natural athleticism and a high motor that offers exciting potential as he continues to develop under the Rockets staff. He is the next prospect to know along the defensive line for this program.

On the offensive line, there are plenty of 2028 prospects that will make high-level impacts this season, especially now working under the direction of Wolff.

That group is led by Ahmad Hamdulla, a physically imposing 6-foot-4 and 310 pound lineman that showed strong signs at left tackle as just a sophomore last season. Time will tell if he stays at tackle under new position coaching as he got work at different spots in practice, but the raw power that he possesses will be something that Rockvale can tap into.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588114' first='Caiden' last='Pyrdum'] is a player that transferred into the program that will benefit greatly from working with the staff. He is the big, physical type at guard that is looking to impose his will, but will need some refinement as he keeps maturing. However, he came to the right place and that is a type of offensive lineman that Wolff has plenty of consistent success with at Page.

Hudson Young is a long offensive tackle in the 2028 class that showed a lot of good things in the spring practice I attended and he could be someone that makes a large impact eventually.
