Starting with the DE position, he takes on blocks with good angles and pursues well into the backfield. His ability to mix power and speed as a pass rusher allows him to generate disruption at the POA. When operating at the TE spot, Alves made outstanding blocks to set up lanes for RBs. There were even a few times where Alves was able to make short catches for small gains. Furthermore, he was used in a variety of actions in jet sweeps and play-action motions to get the ball in his hands. The YAC ability, where Pelzer is difficult to bring down on first contact, was evident in his game.
