Oregon's Top Small School Lineup (4A-1A) Defense

Over the years there have been numerous athletes overlooked in the Northwest because they are playing small school ball. Here we take a look at the top athletes in Oregon returning next season from the 4A level on down.    You will see some of the top prospects in the state listed here with D1 offers and others who have stocks that are rising and could make a nice jump up the PRZ Rankings board when updated..          DEFENSE         There are five athletes listed on both sides of the football with three of them being lineman. [player_tooltip player_id='2161078' first='Cade' last='Wilson'] of Banks is equally talented on D and a division 1 guy, with [player_tooltip player_id='1119870' first='Jamison' last='Walsh'] ranking as a top 20 overall recruit statewide. 6-5 265-pound [player_tooltip player_id='1787921' first='Skylar' last='Folau']'s impressive play on defense at Marshfield has his stock rising quickly, putting up one of the most impressive stat lines at the 4A level.    Another 6-5 edge rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1708645' first='John' last='Alexander'] of Gladstone is legit, but the program went winless this past season. 6-3 195 OLB/DE [player_tooltip player_id='2150236' first='Travis' last='Conklin'] had a 1st team all-conference and honorable mention all-state junior season, projecting as one of the top defensive players in Oregon at his classification level.    The LB group has some dudes with two current sophomores being ranked among the top players in Oregon regardless of classification. I could see the 6-2 210-pound [player_tooltip player_id='1601596' first='Ashton' last='Randall'] of Estacada being an FCS/Mid Major type guy. He was a 1st team all-conference and honorable mention all-state athlete, making 95 tackles with 3 sacks and also scoring 9 TDs offensively. [player_tooltip player_id='1609795' first='Mikey' last='Covey'] of 3A state champ Cascade Christian is the other talented underclassmen earning 1st team all-state honors at OLB as a sophomore.    Vale will once again be in the mix at the 3A level next season after going (9-2) with losses to Cascade Christian and Burns who played in the title game. LB [player_tooltip player_id='1708657' first='Tate' last='Cook'] looks like a bouncer, being named 1st team all-state as a junior with his sophomore teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2106058' first='Cal' last='Johnson'] earning all-state accolades in the secondary and at QB.    [player_tooltip player_id='2161085' first='Dexter' last='Olson'] of Scappoose is a super talented multi-sport athlete (baseball) who was among the 4A leaders in tackles with 77, racking up 3rd team all-state honors. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2158581' first='Kolt' last='McQuinn'] of Pendleton comes from a talented family and looks to be a 2028 that is rising quickly.    Other backers who don't necessarily get a lot of notoriety include [player_tooltip player_id='936953' first='Cannon' last='Kemper'] of Burns HS who helped his team to the title game losing by a TD, and Elias Islas of little-known Phoenix HS in Talent, OR. Islas helped his squad to a (6-4) record earning all-conference honors.    As mentioned in the secondary, [player_tooltip player_id='935357' first='Josiah' last='Hawkins'] of Cascade is ranked the #6 player in the entire state and the #1 ATH in his class. Conference Defensive POY [player_tooltip player_id='1119903' first='Bryson' last='Walker'] is the other individual receiving high praise with his numerous accolades.    Crescent Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='1751515' first='DuShawn' last='Stephens'] rounds out the top small school DB's, showing off his versatility in multiple sports.
