3rd Edition

My third edition of the sleeper QBs to watch in 2026 is filled with true dual-threat quarterbacks who will keep defensive coordinators up at night this coming season. Not only are they effective passers, but they also add the element of giving their offenses the "+1" advantage in the run game.

Dyson was a First Team All-Region selection in one of the toughest regions in South Georgia in 2025. His highlight is filled with explosive plays in both the pass and run game. At 6'5 and 228 pounds, he is a bruising, downhill runner who can also accurately distribute the ball to all areas of the field. His film could be used as a teach tape for both power-read and zone-read schemes. He is patient in the mesh, waiting until the very last second to pull the ball off the read defender. Between the tackles, defenses have to rally and gang tackle him, as he will continue driving his legs through contact, pushing the pile for an extra 3-5 yards. Once he gets on the edge or into open space, his long stride opens up. As a passer, he has an incredibly fast release and can fit the ball into tight windows on RPOs, hit the hole shots outside the numbers, and push it downfield on shot plays.

Rucker consistently exploits aggressive safeties and holes in coverage. He understands how to utilize his eyes and play action fakes to pull defenders toward the line of scrimmage before placing the ball over the top of the safety or into the soft spots of coverages. His eyes are proactive pre-snap, identifying where the offense has the advantage, especially with one-on-one match-ups. He has the athleticism to extend plays with his legs or pull the ball down for big gains as a runner. This ability to gain chunk yards on the ground also comes into play off of zone read and power read schemes.

I wasn't sure whether I would be doing Cobb "justice" by placing him on this list, as he is unlike any quarterback on it or in my previous two posts. Not only is he a proficient passer who reads defenses and makes incredible downfield throws, but he is also an asset as a ball carrier and split out at receiver. On designed runs or zone reads, his combination of speed and size makes him an elusive and powerful runner who can make defenders miss and create yards after contact. However, defenses can't afford to sell out on stopping QB runs when he is under center, as he can make any throw within a progression. He hits receivers in stride and on time, even with a rush, making accurate throws off platform or while scrambling. At receiver, it doesn't matter if he is singled up or in the slot; he is a sure-handed mismatch for most defenders who can create explosive plays after the catch.

Gibbs possesses the unique ability to both be on time within a progression or create the unscripted play by improvising when plays break down, creating explosive plays either through the air or on the ground when defensive linemen abandon rush lanes. His arm can stress defenses vertically with the arm strength to lay the ball out over the top of DBs 40 yards downfield and hit receivers in tight windows on the sideline or between the hashes. The scramble drill looks instinctive to him when the pocket collapses, maneuvering through the rush to find receivers downfield or to his nearest sideline. If he has to pull the ball down and run, he is extremely slippery in open space, weaving through defenders without breaking stride for huge gains.

White is a very well-polished quarterback who excels in the play-action pass game, both from drop-back progressions and bootlegs. He sells the run fakes so well that it freezes defenders, creating windows on the second and third levels which he finds like clockwork. As soon as he hits the last step of his drop or the top of his boot, the ball is coming out and hitting his receiver in stride. The ability to exploit defenders with run responsibilities also comes into play on second-level RPOs. White pairs these play fakes with a big arm, stretching the defense vertically on long downfield shots over the top of aggressive safeties.

Jones can take over a game with his arm or his legs. He can effortlessly push the ball downfield with the flick of his wrist. He wants to take the top off of the defense, but can work his way down through a progression to find intermediate and underneath throws. His long arms give him a high release, allowing him to throw over defenders or manipulate his arm angle to avoid defensive linemen from swatting the ball. He is especially dangerous as a runner; his long stride helps him to quickly take space that the defense leaves unoccupied. When the pass rush is close to getting home, he climbs the pocket and takes advantage of running lanes. Additionally, he is a physical runner with great balance who can break or bounce off of tackles.
