Freshmen Lead Sooner 7 To 14U Championship

Enjoy!</strong></em></strong></em></strong></em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 4th annual PRZ Sooner State Shootout took place in Broken Arrow this weekend and we had over 100 teams from this region competing on Saturday and Sunday. In the 14U division, it was all about Oklahoma as CHJ Elite squared off with Sooner 7 for the 14U crown. These two teams met last week in a tournament in Springfield in the semifinals and CHJ Elite prevailed. This week, it was in the championship game and Sooner 7 got the best of them in the rematch. We'll probably see these two teams square off once or twice more this spring. Below, we take a look at the three players that helped guide Sooner 7 to that championship win. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1596849' first='Calvin' last='Kilpatrick'] - 2029 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1596849' first='Calvin' last='Kilpatrick'] from Sallisaw was dynamic on both sides of the ball for Sooner 7 this weekend. First, he gave Sooner 7 a fantastic playmaker at the wide receiver position. He made some huge catches in the championship game. He's a 2029 prospect that we're very intrigued with and will be following moving forward. The speed is there, the playmaking ability is there. As he continues to grow, he's going to be a very fun player to watch for the next three years. Kilpatrick was one of several players in the 14U division that were equally dominant on both sides of the ball. In the championship game alone, he made big plays on both sides of the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1259676' first='Cannon' last='Myers'] - 2029 Quarterback </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Calm, cool and collected, Bixby freshman quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1259676' first='Cannon' last='Myers'] helped guide Sooner 7 to the 14U championship on Sunday. He didn't get too high, he didn't get too low. He did a great job of keeping everyone involved in the offense and picked his spots to push the ball downfield. And when he did, he was efficient and put the ball where only his playmakers could go and make plays. We really liked Myers after watching him in our Showcase a few weeks ago. But in a 7v7 setting, the competition was definitely tougher and Myers still found a way to be one of the top quarterbacks in his age group. He continues to get better and better every time we see him in person. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1833738' first='Cyrus' last='Johnson'] - 2029 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We just watched Stillwater's [player_tooltip player_id='1833738' first='Cyrus' last='Johnson'] in person at our recent Showcase event a couple weeks ago. He was working at wide receiver but this weekend, he dominated on both sides of the ball. In the championship game alone, Johnson made play after play on both sides of the ball. After checking out his freshman film, we loved what we saw from him on the defensive side of the ball. He showcased that ability time after time on defense this weekend, including the game-clinching interception in the championship game. Johnson debuted in our first 2029 rankings as a top ten overall prospect.
