The coverage on position groups and what they are doing in the off-season to get ready for this fall continues.

Today we are circling back to the the offensive skill players and more specifically the receivers and running back prospects from the loaded class of 2028.

In this report we are focusing on a few of these playmakers and are taking a closer look at what they are doing in the off-season to ensure they are ready to bring the fireworks this fall.

Up first is one of the fastest running backs in the state, followed by a dynamic RB/LB who helped lead his team to a state championship last year. We will then touch base with a handful of ballers getting ready for big seasons in 2026.

So without further adieu, let's take a closer look at what these guys have been up to and zoom in on their plans for the rest of the off-season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2047467' first='Cade' last='Liggett'] , 6'0, 195, RB/LB, Pratt, '28 - (PICTURED ABOVE) - up first is a guy I have been following since last year who is coming off a breakout sophomore season when he established himself as a weapon on both sides of the ball as well as being one of the fastest skill players in the state. On offense he is electric running/passing out of the wildcat or splitting out to catch the ball. For the season he piled up 1,300+ all-purpose yards and 12 TD's. Once football was over he went right into basketball and has helped the team get deep into post-season play. This spring he will be one of the fastest sprinters in the state on the track team. He is also continuing to train for this fall lifting and doing speedwork and is planning on hitting a few camps this summer. The future is bright in Pratt with this guy around, expect him to go scorched-earth on the opposition this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664439' first='Cooper' last='Bruna'] , 6'0, 200, RB/LB, Hanover, '28, up next is another standout two-way baller coming off a state championship season as well as ending powerhouse Axtell's 58-game win streak. Along the way he was a baller who had 600+ yards on offense and scored 14 touchdowns. He was also a dominating force on defense, swarming the ball for 116 tackles on the year, with an eye-popping 18 tackles in the championship game. Once the season was over he went right into hoops and is the second-leading scorer as well as playing shut-down defense on the other team's top players. He has a busy camp schedule ahead with plans to hit McPherson, Washburn, K-State and others in the coming months. He is also lifting weights and as well as driving to Revive Performance every Saturday morning for more speed/agility work. With a 4.5 forty and up to 200 pounds he is ready to really blow things up this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2087631' first='Chaylen' last='Bodney'], 5'11, 185, ATH, Heights, '28, this guy caught my eye last year as a promising prospect who proceeded to have a standout sophomore season, carrying the ball 38 times for 267 yards and six TD's, caught 29 passes for 492 yards and five scores, added 274 yards in returns and even fired a 49-yard TD pass, for 1,100 all-purpose yards and 14 total TD's. He is definitely a playmaker on the rise who started the season under the radar but is starting to get some attention. His versatility sets him apart as he can split wide, line up in the slot, as a RB, take the snap in the Wildcat and can play QB as needed. He is also a ballhawk in the secondary and an uber-dangerous return man, with great burst and lateral quickness in the open field. He is currently powerlifting and is running track this spring. This baller is going to be a lethal threat anytime he touches the ball this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2142343' first='Priest' last='Roberts'], 5'9, 160, WR/DB/KR, Manhattan, '28, up next is another two-way baller coming off a solid sophomore year getting acclimated to the varsity game for the defending 6A state champion Eagles. He is a versatile three-way player who is a shutdown cornerback on defense, split wide or in the slot as a receiver on offense and is also showing signs of becoming an elusive return man on kicks and punts. When the season came to a close he decided to skip other sports and focus his training on football. He has been lifting and doing speedwork and is also training with Sharp Performance. His efforts are already showing excellent progress as he has put on 15 pounds while shaving his forty time down to 4.6. This spring and summer he plans to be busy, training with Coach Dunnigan, who knows a thing or two about developing elite talent, and is still deciding on camps. This guy is ready for the next step.

Andre Lovett, 6'0, 210, TE/RB/Edge/LB, Wichita South, '28, and last but certainly not least we have a versatile playmaker who started the season without much fanfare but showed glimpses of standout play to come. He is a multi-positional baller on both sides of the ball who can play tight end or running back on offense. On the other side of the ball he can play as a run-stopper on the d-line, but where he really shined last year was as a hard-charging Edge/OLB who gets in the backfield in a hurry. He plays the game with physicality, using attitude and athleticism to pound backs attempting to breach the perimeter on his side. Once last season was over he played basketball and will play baseball in the spring. He is also planning on the K-State and SW Missouri camps, is working with a speed trainer and has been lifting hard. This guy is a diamond in the rough who is getting ready to shine this fall.
