City Scope: Chattanooga’s Best Sr Pass Catchers

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Whether some may admit, there is competition between the biggest cities in this state to see who has the best players. Well we are going to look into that by reviewing film and presenting you the cities best at each position. First we start with the "Scenic City" and their best receivers. </h2>     - A new series here at Prep Redzone Tennessee, we will look at the best prospects from the biggest cities inside the Volunteer State, starting with the pass catchers in the TN2027 class from the greater Chattanooga area. It's a solid crop of guys with several of them already holding P4, D1 offers and interest with others sitting under the radar, waiting for their opportunities. I also expect some new names to pop up as we work through college camps and into the Fall season.    Receivers   (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1577095' first='Dayon' last='Cooper'] - South Pittsburg: Electric with the ball in his hands, Cooper is a dynamic receiver that can take the top off or turn a short gain into a long score. The Pirates senior is a winner too that is coming off earning a state championship where he was a major contributor that helped him earn 1A Mr. Football. Cooper is a physical pass catcher that holds 10 plus offers right now, including several Power Four options and I expect his stock to continue rising over the next few months, especially after the summer camp season. This guy is definitely one of the top prospects from the greater Chattanooga area that may have as much upside as anybody.   (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1654041' first='Marcus' last='Jones'] - Red Bank: Jones might be one of the more underrated prospects from our TN2027 class that has yet to see the offers come his way. A natural athlete that runs very well, Jones is a big play threat with the ball in his hands that can run past defenders and create something magical. His body weight and needing to learn the route tree might be factors behind the lack of offers right now but I think they will come in time. Jones has a top tier quarterback working with him this Fall, so don't be surprised to see the Lions receiver have a breakout senior year that gets him potentially to the D1 level.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2026/03/mjones.jpg?w=608" alt="" class="wp-image-2150994" style="width:218px;height:auto" /></figure>   (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1103039' first='Jacorrion' last='Tramble'] - Notre Dame: Tramble is somebody making serious noise on the recruiting scene right, recently landing offers from Tennessee and Vanderbilt along with interest coming from several others. A big reason for their interest is the outstanding combination of size and speed with Tramble and his ability to separate from defenders. The Fighting Irish senior had a breakthrough junior campaign that saw him start to come into his own and I think his best football days are ahead of him. Look for Tramble to continue building steam on the recruiting trail due to his physical capabilities and upside for the college game.    (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1608623' first='Griffin' last='Patterson'] - Ooltewah: Big and physical with a wide radius, Patterson is an under the radar talent that might have a future in college as a potential flex tight end. The Owls senior is lacking the top end speed to stay outside in college but if he can get faster, while enhancing his agility and sudden movements, staying at receiver is possible. What I do like about Patterson is his strong hands and ability to run intermediate routes. He shields off defenders well while staying concentrated towards bringing in the ball. Continued work must be done but Patterson is certainly one of the better pass catchers returning in the Fall from the greater Chattanooga area.    (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1643691' first='Taevon' last='Boykin'] - Chatt. Prep: The Sentinels receiver is undersized and lacking the ideal look that some college staffs may like but he has been a productive player for his team over the past two years that does provide potential on both sides of the ball. I personally like him on offense and in the slot. Boykin displays good hands with the ability to carve out positive yards due to his elusive movements and feel for the game. If he can gain more weight, enhance his route tree and speed, Boykin may work his way into a wanted man by college coaches. It will be interesting to see how he develops this coming Fall and how he positions himself for the next level.    (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1893028' first='Luke' last='Hayden'] - Walker Valley: Sitting way under the radar right now, Hayden is an intriguing prospect that may turn out to be a steal for whoever he eventually signs with. Now that depends on his development into his senior season but the raw, physical traits are in place. The Mustangs pass catcher stands 6'5 205 pounds with a wide radius that makes things difficult for the opposition. He also moves well with room to increase his athleticism and speed further. I do see a scenario where Hayden develops best at tight end but he must pack on significant weight to make that happen. This is certainly one guy to keep track of over the coming months and into the Fall season to see how things play out.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/09/lhayden.jpg?w=700" alt="" class="wp-image-1896661" style="width:237px;height:auto" /></figure>   - - - - -    Tight Ends   (TE) [player_tooltip player_id='454466' first='Jack' last='Evitts'] - Sequatchie Co.: A dual tight end that can block in-line or work the intermediate routes, Evitts is a multi-year starter that sports a strong offer list right now with some bigger schools sniffing around. The Indians senior does a lot for his team from handling his business at tight end while also contributing at defensive end. His future is at tight end where Evitts could develop into one of the best blockers from his class with the ability to become a safety blanket in the passing game. His performance this Fall season will be critical towards the Indians chances and hopes at competing for titles.    (TE) [player_tooltip player_id='1857395' first='Axel' last='Yobo'] - McCallie: Every year, I have a list of “my guys” that I think are talented but don't garner the recruiting attention like they should and Yobo is one of those prospects for me this year. The Blue Tornado tight end brings a versatile skill set to the field that allows to work on the line of scrimmage or flex out into the slot. Yobo is a good athlete with a well built, physical body and frame that shows up on film. He wasn't showcased too much last Fall but if you look deeper into his abilities, you see a well gifted athlete that displays excellent upside for the next level. I think Yobo is a hidden gem that might turn out to be one of the biggest camp stars throughout the summer months.    (TE) [player_tooltip player_id='2090526' first='Brady' last='Wathen'] - Marion Co.: A key contributor for his Warriors team over the past two years, Wathenn is a strong and steady ball player that does a lot of little things right but also shows upside as a pass catcher in college. What he brings to the gridiron is a technique sound, tough, physical game play, especially in the trenches with his run blocking as well as the ability to work the intermediate routes or stretch the field. Wathen does have plenty of growth to go with his body and his athleticism.
