He has one of the fastest 1st steps I have seen from an edge defender. He explodes off the ball and is disruptive against opposing offenses. He uses his speed to go around offensive tackles. Then, when he reaches the backfield, he has an excellent ability to turn it into impact plays. He also uses his hands well and is strong at the point of attack. His ability to use his strength to control his gaps is impressive. He is difficult to move from his spot due to his leverage and strength. He also has active hands. He has what I call violent hands, as he can use them to get through the body of an offensive lineman. Then, as a pass rusher, he has a great swim-move. He gets the offensive lineman going one way and swim-move the opposite direction. It is impressive to see him do it, as I saw him do it plenty of times on film. As a nose tackle, he is hard to move off his spot. He is good at holding his own on gap control and not allowing offensive linemen to drive him off the ball. He also shows a good job of splitting a double team. Anything that is run inside, he can shut down and do well with. Then, on offense, he shows a good job of run blocking. With his big frame, he can dominate defensive linemen. He has good size (6'4") and strength. He has outstanding fundamentals. His ability to fire off the ball and block is impeccable. Bowman can run and pass block at a high level. As a run blocker, he does a good job of down blocking on defensive linemen. The best part of his game is his passing blocking, though. The way he locks his arms out and does not let speed rushers around him is impressive. His ability to play as both an edge and an interior defensive lineman is impressive. At both positions, he is a good pass rusher. He has mastered the bull rush by pushing offensive linemen back into the offensive backfield. He also uses his hands well to engage with offensive linemen and rip through their bodies. He also shows a good ability to split a double team.
