Blackman High School has had some of the best talent in the state come up through their system in the last several years at a variety of positions and the latest run of talent has seemingly come at the running back position, putting the new coaching staff in a prime position to create an offensive identity from the jump.

As it stands right now, Blackman is set to have a solid back in the 2028, 2029, and 2030 classes on the roster for next season, the debut year for head coach Will Hester.

As the new coaching staff shapes the offense in their image, they should have a strong group of tailbacks to rely on early on.

Rising junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1029916' first='Micah' last='Nance'] is one of the most underrated players in the entire state of Tennessee with a strong, compact frame that allows for him to work in between the tackles with an innate home-run ability to generate explosive rushes.

He displayed that talent in extended spurts last year and should get more run this season as he is another year older and will likely have added some more weight on to his 5-foot-10 and 175 pound frame. He is a crafty rusher that patiently works behind his blocks and then explodes through the crease in the defense when given the opportunity.

While Blackman will change coaches, Nance is a constant to build around for the next two years to give the offense a true identity as he should be a prime breakout candidate to know inside the state.

While the Blaze had a strong rotation of tailbacks this season, [player_tooltip player_id='1668950' first='Matt' last='Mhlaingena'] got extended run as the top tailback on the freshman team and showed a lot of promise. He has a sturdy frame at 5-foot-8 and 185 pounds with the ability to run downhill and behind his pads.

He is a smooth runner that actively works to find the rushing lane that is best suited for him and could instantly earn some run as a sophomore next season with his size, athleticism and short-yardage ability.

[player_tooltip player_id='1594744' first='Alyjah' last='Russell'] was the top tailback on the Blackman Middle School team as his size and physicality at 5-foot-9 and a strong 160 pounds were tough to handle at that level.

While he is a bigger running back prospect for his age, he has the athleticism to make big runs happen consistently in a skillset that will translate nicely to the next level. He keeps his legs moving through the contact point and has a strong base that should allow him to break a lot of tackles as he begins to run more behind his pads.

He is an exciting mid-state running back to know that has the potential to develop into a well-rounded running back with a big, strong frame that can work between the tackles, add yards after contact and hit big runs.
