As customary with my event coverage, I feverishly write as many notes as I can, as quickly as I can, in order to report on as many prospects as I can. In this feature from Prep Redzone New England's Stock Up Showcase, I share my positional notes for the group aforementioned in this article's title.
One of the best reps I saw any receiver take was that of Brady Goodwin. Goodwin, a rising junior, ran an excellent curl route, sharply snapping his hips before returning to the ball. Because he was in constant motion throughout this rep, his defender was always at least a step behind him as Goodwin racked up serious YAC... I was a little disappointed that [player_tooltip player_id='1572750' first='Chase' last='Kukesh'] was unable to make the necessary adjustments I had hoped for. I caught two reps of him during indy. As receivers were running the box drill and coming back to the ball, he dropped the first one. This was because he never looked the ball into his hands. A few moments later when he was back up, Kukesh dropped another one due to the same error. Although he ought to know better, part of this was on his position coach for not catching that lapse in focus and calling out the correctable behavior.

I would say that sense of urgency is an area for TJ Ruedemann can hone in on this coming fall. I thought that Ruedemann lumbered a bit and even looked lackadaisical at times when running his routes. I would prefer for him to put pressure on defenses by forcing the issue. Further, Ruedemann needs to find a way to accelerate out of his breaks sooner - perhaps this is a matter of cleaner footwork on his routes... In a similar sense, I had the same thoughts on [player_tooltip player_id='2109713' first='William' last='Putnam']. Putnam did regain top speed after he made his cut/break off of his route, but it took a bit too long for my liking. Because it was a 1on1 setting, on-target throws leading him led to completions, but against zones and tighter windows, those throws might get broken up if he cannot get a quicker sudden burst... Although he was not super tall (6' 1 1/2"), [player_tooltip player_id='1662738' first='Tyler' last='Dawson'] uses his frame extremely well. Dawson maximized his extension to haul in a pass thrown in a tight window and against tight coverage. Securing the ball with he hands, he tucked it under his chin before seeking additional yardage...
