Offseason Predictions: 5 Breakout Players in 2026 (Pt. 13)

The transfer landscape has yet to be finalized, which may impact some of these predictions in the future. However, here is one player from each school, listed in alphabetical order, that we believe will have a breakout season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>PETERSBURG VIKINGS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Petersburg's [player_tooltip player_id='2140639' first='Evan' last='Tawney'] put together one of the more underrated sophomore stat lines you will find in the 2028 group, and that alone makes him a name to watch heading into the offseason. He contributed across the board for Petersburg with 186 rushing yards and three touchdowns, 40 receptions for 493 yards and five scores, and 64 tackles with an interception on defense. That kind of usage tells you the staff trusted him in multiple phases. Even without full film available, the production suggests competitiveness, durability, and versatility. Now the question becomes where his long-term home is and how much his role expands as an upperclassman. If he handles a junior jump, Tawney has the profile of a player who could move from productive contributor to true breakout player in his class.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>PHILIP BARBOUR COLTS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Kaleb Korder heads into his senior offseason at Philip Barbour with a real chance to step into the leadership void left by graduating linemen and take ownership of the front. At 6'1 260, he brings a sturdy build and the kind of versatility coaches value, having shown he can line up anywhere across the offensive line, though his long-term fit points most naturally to guard. Corder moves well for his size, especially when asked to pull or climb to the second level, and that mobility gives him value in a variety of blocking schemes. The next step is establishing himself as the tone setter up front while continuing to build strength and refine technique. If he takes command of that unit and matches consistency with his physical tools, Korder has the upside to garner D3 and D2 interest by the end of his senior season.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>PIKEVIEW PANTHERS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='2140641' first='Kyle' last='Williams'] heads into his senior offseason at PikeView with an opportunity coming after the Panthers graduated their top two rushers from a Wing-T attack that always needs a reliable backfield presence. In limited touches as a junior, he made the most of his chances, carrying it 51 times for 369 yards and adding 49 tackles on defense, which points to a player his coaches trusted in multiple roles. The next question is proving he can handle a full workload and be the tone setter in an offense built on consistency and toughness. Williams has a clear path to turning rotational production into a breakout senior season and establishing himself as one of the more dependable players on the team.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>POCA DOTS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">2027 Poca LB [player_tooltip player_id='1155293' first='Colton' last='Petry'] finished his junior season looking like a player ready for a bigger spotlight after a highly productive year on both sides of the ball. He piled up 110 tackles with 13 tackles for loss and showed he could contribute offensively as well with 137 rushing yards and 43 receptions for 304 yards and four touchdowns. Built strong and sturdy, he plays with the kind of physicality that shows up in the trenches, fights off blocks, and consistently finishes tackles, whether he is lined up on the edge or working inside. If continued growth comes this offseason, he has the makeup to have an even bigger breakout season as a senior for the Dots and earn more accolades and college interest. </p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>POCAHONTAS COUNTY WARRIORS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1155299' first='Logan' last='Keatley'] is one of those prospects evaluators keep tabs on even without fresh film because the physical profile and versatility give him multiple paths. At 6'1 205, he already has linebacker size and plays with the kind of physical edge that translates well on defense, though Pocahontas County has shown he can line up at quarterback or move around as an athlete when needed. That flexibility speaks to his overall football skill set and versatility. He has the tools to turn projection into production and put together the kind of senior year that raises his profile.</p>
