Prep Redzone Iowa dropped a Class of 2028 rankings update at the end of last month. That followed a final update on the 2026 Class and an update on the 2027s.

We'll finish off the latest run with the unveiling of our initial 2029 rankings. Please keep in mind, it's real early for the freshman class and just a starting point for us.

Here's a closer look at guys in that recruiting cycle that you'll find in the upcoming release:

Although he didn't record any statistics for the program's top team, Gatewood enjoyed the destrinction of being listed on Ankeny's varsity roster as a freshman in 2025. That's often a foreshadowing of a student-athlete who'll be a factor down the road. When checking in on Gatewood's Hudl page, we see those contributions might not be far off. The ninth-grader stands out as a play-making middle linebacker that diagnoses what's coming before the snap and flies to the football. Gatewood operates with physicality and delivers form tackles that drop ball carriers in their tracks. He also features clips of special-teams' exploits, which should provide him a chance for varsity time as early as next fall.

Daniel spent his freshman season of 2025 developing his game on the non-varsity level of a program that annually produces prospects for the next level. He provided evidence as to why he was one of the few ninth-graders included on the varsity roster during a highlight video from his first high school campaign, however. On it, we witness a young signal caller with the arm strength to fit the ball into tight windows. Daniel puts it on his receivers in positions where they can make plays after the catch. Stretching the field on deep balls looks effortless for Daniel. The Jaguars graduated their starting quarterback, and Daniel looks like a guy who can compete for QB1 as early as next fall.

Linn-Mar only listed three freshman on its varsity roster in 2025, and Bolsinger was among them. That means the coaching staff sees him as someone capable of helping at the highest level of the program early in his career. That's a good sign for Bolsinger, who's developing i a program that does well in producing college prospects. We don't have much film to analyze when it comes to the young student-athlete. What we can find on his Hudl page provides evidence that Bolsinger is a long-armed athletic edge rusher with a projectable frame capable of adding plenty of good weight and strength. It's a package that also works well at tight end.

Moore was among a select group of freshmen listed on the Lewis Central varsity roster in 2025. It's a good sign for the future that the coaching staff for a program that produces college prospects regularly views him in such high regard. Moore furnishes us with evidence of what their seeing during clips found on his Hudl page. On the first clip from the Denison-Schleswig contest, he crashes down on a play heading away from him and levels the ball carrier. Moore pancakes a defender lining up at H-Back on the second clip. His performance through the film centers around embracing the game's physicality. He has a projectable frame capable of adding plenty of good weight and strength while maintaining explosiveness, athleticism and speed.

Muhlbauer was one of just two freshmen to record any statistics on the Spencer varsity in 2025. While the contributions were minor in numbers, that the coaches saw him helping as a ninth-grader bodes well for his future. Film is limited on Muhlbauer's Hudl page. What is there certainly highlights his best assets. On one clip, he takes a handoff deep in his team's own end of the field, beats the defense to the edge and his gone for about an 80-yard touchdown. Another clip has him running a crisp route before burning the defense down the field for a long score. Muhlbauer can make people miss in the open field or run over whatever stands his way.

Cole was one of the only freshman to record statistics on the Marion varsity in 2025. The ninth-grader completed four of five passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns against no interceptions as one of the backups to a senior signal caller. QB1 for the Wolves is up for grabs next fall, and Cole has the ability to win it based on his highlight video from this past campaign. It features him getting reps on the varsity, but also his development on a lower level in the program. Cole is comfortable and effective lining up under center or out of the shotgun, not a given these days. He spins a nice ball, proving he can zip it into tight windows or push it downfield. While he prefers operating from the pocket, Cole's mobility keeps plays alive off of schedule or helps in gaining yards with his legs.
