Next Gen Great Danes

The University of Albany competes at the D1 FCS Level, and fields a competitive team. Led by Coach Tom Perkovich, the Danes finished with a 2-10 record in 2025 with wins against Monmouth, and Cornell. Albany believes in recruiting inside the state of New York, and will bring in four New York Prospects as part of their 2026 class. Hailing from Section Two, and attending Niskayuna, the Future Great Dane, is a backyard recruit for Albany. Grasso stands at 6'1" 175-Pounds, giving him an excellent size for a WR.   Grasso is a true do it all receiver, who excels down field, and can beat anytime of press, and separation given to him. He has an outstanding burst, and can reach his top speed quickly making him hard to tackle. Grasso is a slippery prospect, who has good footwork, and is excellent with the ball in his hands.   He will be utilized early on for the Great Dane offense, as his versatility, along with ability to make plays across the field, creates a mismatch against defenders, which I bet will be taken advantage of. His size is also a big factor, as he is in the perfect frame for a WR, allowing him to hit the field early on, and make an impact.      The Erasmus Hall Prospect is next. Murray is an intriguing prospect who can play across the field, and is listed as an ATH, with the ability to play at QB. Hailing from the PSAL League, Murray will make the trip up north next season to suit up for the Great Danes.   Murray will play WR for Albany, and standing at 6'0" 165-Pounds has a solid size, but should look to add some weight as he enters college. He is a true 50/50 ball catcher, and has an elite first step, and get off, which creates separation from the LOS. He is a quick prospect who excels on special teams, and shows elite footwork, and amazing elusiveness.   He will be utilized early on for the Great Dane offense, as his versatility, along with ability to make plays across the field, creates a mismatch against defenders, which I bet will be taken advantage of. His versatility across the field, and impact on special teams, will make him a major factor for this Albany offense.      Third is [player_tooltip player_id='2131149' first='Ryan' last='Fitzpatrick']. The Goshen Central Prospect, went a majority of the season unnoticed, and broke out late in 2025, receiving over five offers at the D1 Level. Fitzpatrick, will find himself nicely ranked in the final 2026 rankings, and is an underrate get for Albany.   Fitzpatrick projects as a Tackle, but will likely kick inside given his frame. Standing at 6'4" 260-Pounds, he fits the frame of a Guard, which will allow him to play early on. I like his footwork off the LOS, as he attacks his rushers, and uses good hand placement, along with excellent footwork, to move players out of position and create gaps.   Fitzpatrick did not play a lot of Guard in High School which could be a concern, however his High IQ, along with good footwork, and excellent hand placement will easily make him a deadly force on the LOS, for Albany.      Last up is [player_tooltip player_id='2131157' first='Myles' last='Coons']. Coons is another Lineman who went unnoticed for the majority of his High School Career, but picked up a late offer to Albany, and later committed to the Great Danes.   Standing at 6'5" 275-Pounds, Coons can play both Interior, and outside on the line. In my opinion, both he can excel at given his frame. Coons displayed pure physicality on film, and showcased good hand placement, moving guys off the line.   Coons is an excellent prospect, who showcases, some elite pass protection, and can create open lanes in the running game. I like him a lot on the Albany roster, and his addition is easily an underrated one.
