The annual King of Da Boot 7-on-7 tournament drew a huge turnout of both talented teams and supporting crowds to Acadiana this weekend for two days of action.

Several of Louisiana's top prospects from rising seniors down to the younger age groups were in attendance and provided standout performances for their respective organizations — all leading to F3 Elite holding off The Duke Academy, 20-12, for the 18U title.

Here's a look at a few of the eye-catchers who caught our attention on the defensive side or both sides of the ball during 18U bracket play Sunday.

Note: As always, these "eye-catchers" notes are not necessarily intended as definitive "top performers" lists — particularly in settings such as 7-on-7 where there are multiple fields going simultaneously and catching everything happening at once is not possible.

Click here for more on a few offensive standouts from 18U action.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf6RC1eL4-Y

[player_tooltip player_id='739753' first='Landon' last='Johnson'] — 6-1, 175 DB/ATH — Madison Prep (2027)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1372155' first='Calvin' last='Ursin'] — 6-2, 200 WR/ATH — Dunham (2028)

No better place to start than with the champion F3 Elite and a pair of two-way stars who managed to both find the end zone as go-to targets for Zachary quarterback JaCori Platt as well as come away with big pass breakups when on defense. Johnson is one of the state's top rising senior cornerbacks, but also showed his big-play ability as a pass-catcher (something he does as a three-phase standout in the fall). Ursin has been considered more likely a receiver in college, but has also started on both sides of the ball early in his high school career. In addition to his work on offense this weekend, he played safety and most notably deflected a third-down throw late in the title game that helped halt some TDA momentum and start sealing the victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='485983' first='Emmanuel' last='Moses'] — 5-11, 180 DB — University Lab (2027)

The F3 Elite defense was loaded with Baton Rouge area stars and future Division-I FBS signees, including another familiar face in "ManMan" Moses. The hard-hitting University Lab defensive back and, like Johnson and Ursin, longtime F3 Elite member snatched away an end zone pass in the semifinals and deflected at least two others. He spoke afterward about his confidence in how well he's seeing the field as a rising senior and his ability to bait opposing quarterbacks into throws and then slam those windows shut.

Eldric Cambrice Jr. — 5-10, 160 DB — Edna Karr (2027)

We have referenced on several occasions that while the loaded Edna Karr program that has won back-to-back state title and 27 straight games is graduating a legendary 2026 class, the cupboard in Algiers remains well-stocked with talent to potentially make another run. Cambrice is one of those next stars to know and looked the part this weekend at corner for New Orleans area-based Fleaux for whom he largely locked down his side of the field and came away with at least a couple deflections we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='423247' first='Dylan' last='Henry'] — 5-11, 160 DB — Mandeville (2027)

The Mandeville senior, one of Louisiana's higher-ranked defensive backs from early in his career, was a key standout in TDA's run to the title game, including an interception in the semifinals to help push the team on to the final round. Henry has always been a smart and versatile player, which has shown on both the football fields in the fall and 7-on-7 circuits in the spring and is working behind the scenes this spring to maximize his athletic testing numbers to continue adding more offers to an already-solid list of options

Shadon Lee — 6-0, 155 DB — Westgate (2028)

The rising junior cornerback helped headline a long list of strong performances by the 4th Quarter Mentality defense with his four interceptions helping highlight the host program's deep run before falling just short in a semifinal heartbreaker. Lee entered his sophomore year already highly ranked, but has continued to consistently restate his case among the best defensive backs in the state for his class as a largely lockdown player who makes opposing quarterbacks pay with costly takeaways when they try to test him. He and school and 7v7 teammate Zyier Stokes (2029) were among two of the top defenders throughout the vents.

The annual King of Da Boot 7-on-7 tournament drew a huge turnout of both talented teams and supporting crowds to Acadiana this weekend for two days of action.
