Freshman Quarterbacks Set to Make Waves in the Fall

Several class of 2029 quarterbacks have begun to trend upward this offseason. The arm talent, composure, processing speed, and competitive edge that these signal callers possess suggest that several of these players will make a strong impact on Friday nights across the state in the near future.    On his fall film, he displays strong pocket awareness. He feels pressure, climbs when necessary, and keeps his eyes downfield while maintaining throwing posture. He also has the athleticism to extend plays and deliver accurately outside of structure. His mechanics are clean and repeatable, and he throws from a firm base with balance and control. As he continues to mature physically, expect his ceiling to rise. Evaluators should get eyes on him early.     Crouch plays the position with efficiency and timing. He features a compact delivery and consistently throws from a stable base. His lower-body mechanics are sound, and he properly engages his hips to generate velocity without sacrificing accuracy.   Crouch sees the field clearly and delivers the football on time and in rhythm. His touch on the deep ball stands out, particularly when attacking vertically against tight coverage. On film, he demonstrates the ability to make off-platform throws while maintaining ball placement. He processes quickly and does not hesitate when the window presents itself.   He led the Highland Park freshman team to a 9–0 record, throwing 39 touchdowns with a 72 percent completion rate. The production aligns with the film.      Mayberry is a confident and physically imposing young quarterback. He has the frame and arm strength to make every throw required at the high school level and beyond. He operates from a strong base, and his delivery is compact and efficient.   Mayberry throws with rhythm and precision. He understands defensive leverage and routinely throws receivers open rather than waiting for separation. His willingness to attack vertically reflects trust in his arm talent. On film, he shows excellent pocket mobility and the ability to extend plays. He can evade pressure, reset his platform, and deliver accurately downfield. He is also a legitimate threat as a runner when plays break down.   He led the North Crowley freshman team to a 10–0 record, throwing 32 touchdowns and adding five rushing scores. He competes with confidence and elevates the offense around him.     Jones possesses high-level arm talent. He features a quick release, clean mechanics, and the ability to deliver the football with velocity to all three levels of the field. He consistently drives throws outside the numbers with confidence and pace.   As a multi-sport athlete who excels on the basketball court, Jones displays coordination and body control that translate well to the quarterback position. On film, he shows strong pocket presence and the ability to maneuver within congestion while maintaining vision downfield. He is comfortable throwing on the move and can create outside of structure.   He accounted for 30 passing touchdowns and 2,232 total yards from scrimmage. Expect him to generate significant attention in Central Texas over the next few seasons.      Bledsoe has a long, lean frame with clear developmental upside. He delivers the football on time and features a quick, efficient release. His feet remain calm in the pocket, and his mechanics are fundamentally sound.   On film, Bledsoe displays dual-threat capability. He is comfortable throwing on the move and has the athleticism to generate offense with his legs when necessary. He totaled 22 passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns during his freshman season.   The traits are present, and the trajectory is encouraging. He is another young passer in Texas who warrants early and continued evaluation.     Meeks has a strong arm that enables him to push the football at all levels of the field with pinpoint accuracy. He has superb mechanics that start with his solid base and he engages his core to get extra torque on his throws. He is athletic in the pocket, his ability to keep his vision downfield when under pressure from defenders allows him to make throws in tight windows. Meeks makes throws outside the pocket to evade to the rush with accuracy and he has the foot speed to make plays with his feet to move the sticks. Meeks was selected as Newcomer of the Year after having success as a freshman for Henderson in 2025. He has the make up of the next East Texas gunslinger you need to know over the next couple of seasons.     Sam lit up at Jordan on the freshman and JV teams last fall, showing the arm talent to spray the route tree with accuracy. He has the pocket awareness to make plays on broken plays and keep his eyes downfield, locating his targets in rhythm. His mechanics are clean and deliberate, allowing him to push the ball at the second level consistently. Sam understands how to throw with anticipation and routinely puts the ball where his receivers are able to make plays. Look for him to make a push for varsity playing time this fall.     Middleton Jr. has a strong arm with the ability to push the football down field to stretch the defense. His mechanics are clean and he engages his hips to get extra torque on his throws. He is athletic in the pocket with the ability to evade the rush, he throws well on the move and he has the running ability to make plays with his feet to move the chains. He has the chance to compete for playing time at Desoto in the fall and he has the skill set to be the next dominate signal caller for the Eagles.
