Single A football is the second smallest class of football in Minnesota, with only 9-man below it. Despite that, it's been home to many talented athletes who've gone on to make waves across the Minnesota college football scene. I've scoured the Hudl's of dozens of teams, and brought 7 standout athletes, including a GIANT of a specialist who is the prototypical diamond in the rough. Keep an eye out for these guys next season, as they're on track to make waves!

A varsity contributor as a freshman for the Panthers, Kruse is someone I could see earning himself a higher ranking down the road. He did a little bit of everything last season, seeing time as an RB, QB, and OLB. As a freshman QB, Kruse showed off a lot of promising traits that should serve him well in his development down the road. For starters, Kruse throws a nice ball, particularly on the run. He does a good job of buying time with a collapsing pocket by rolling out and seems to sense pressure well. With a clean pocket, Kruse has shown that he can put a solid zip on the ball and hit wideouts in tight windows. He also brings an underrated scramble component to his game, where he can absolutely take off if he doesn't like what he's seeing downfield. Kruse is an athlete that TMB is trying to get on the field by any means necessary. I don't know if QB1 is in order for him next season, but you can expect to find him balling for the Panthers.

A freshman TE/MLB with a solid amount of varsity tape, Wohnoutka might end up as a gem of a prospect, especially if he continues to grow and add weight to his frame. Most of his tape was on the defensive side of the ball, although in his lone catch of the season, he did come up big in a 4th down and 3 redzone situation where he reeled in a TD. On defense, Wohnoutka showcases aggressive pursuit of ball carriers, laying everything on the line to track them down. His first step is usually downhill, and when the offense runs in between the tackles, he does a good job of filling his gap. I'm interested in seeing how he evolves during his sophomore season.

A two-sport athlete (Football/Wrestling) who made a solid impact last season for the Rebels' Gilb returns seeking to build on that success he had last season as an OLB. On his junior tape, Gilb proves to be deceptively quick, and he doesn't hesitate to engage with lead blockers. My favorite part of his game is how physical he is when he engages ball carriers. If he gets time to build up, say when a ball carrier catches a swing pass out of the backfield, Gilb does a great job of tackling them at or near the LOS, and leaving his impact when hitting them. I'd love to see more tape out of Gilb ahead of his senior year.

A RB/DL who put out a litany of sophomore tape, Netzke is an athlete with a promising frame that many should begin to keep an eye on. His offensive tape is pretty impressive. Netzke is a dog with the rock in his hands. He's both faster and quicker than you'd think a prospect of his size would be, and he frequently showcases excellent contact balance, often bouncing off multiple defenders in a play. He's excellent at running between the tackles, touting the ability to make quick cuts to find open running lanes before exploding to the second level. On defense, Netzke shines again as a defensive end. He wreaks havoc on offenses, showing a crazy-quick get-off and the athleticism to bully offensive tackles. He's effective both as a standup DE and in a 4-point, and does a great job of using his hands to prevent tackles from properly engaging him. If he's not given a double team, Netzke is going to cause serious headaches. I'm pumped to see how his junior season goes.

Another TMB Panthers prospect with a solid frame and the potential to make plays, Brinkley is an aggressive MLB who could easily breakout during his senior season. I love how downhill he plays. Brinkley screams through the LOS like a banshee and lights up ball carriers. He takes optimal pursuit angles and plays through the whistle. He has no qualms about engaging both lead blockers and offensive linemen, and he fights tooth and nail to beat them across their face in pursuit of a TFL. When he tackles one-on-one, Brinkley tackles low. When he joins in on a gang tackle, he's looking to push the pile back or strip out the ball in the process. Brinkley is definitely a sleeper to watch in 2026.

Another TMB inside backer whose returning after a year on varsity, Verlinde is looking to be a key part of what should be a good Panthers defense in 2026. On his junior tape, he showcases some solid instincts. He does a good job of playing downhill and is patient enough not to overpursue ball carriers. He flows well to the play while avoiding the wash and makes shoestring tackles look easy, as he moves effortlessly from alley to alley in the pursuit of the ball carrier. Verlinde looks to be gearing up for a big senior season, and I'm excited to watch.

Verhelst is a prospect that I am immensely excited about. Not only does he boast an insane stature, but he's got stats and film to really solidify himself as a top specialist in the state. He punted 31 times for a combined 933 yards, meaning he averaged just over 30 yards per punt. His film is all punting and properly showcases his talent. All of his boots get a lot of hangtime, some easily sitting for 4 seconds. He also played some defense and finished the season with 41 total tackles, 2 TFLs, and 2 FFs. A handful of schools across the country would be very fortunate to find Verhelst on their roster next fall.
