If you follow recruiting in the state of Florida, you already know that it is really like no other place in the country – year-round.

While other regions of the country are blanketed by snow and the football talent is forced to move their work indoors, the state of Florida is showcasing the many underclassmen who are building on what they accomplished during the 2025 season.

From camps to combines to numerous 7-on-7 events, these rising seniors, juniors and sophomores, who made a statement during the season that ended for some in December are at it every day, improving their craft and backing up the huge numbers they posted from August until December.

As college coaches come through during the open periods they are putting eyes on these prospects, and by the time they come back during the April/May evaluation period, they will have a great idea of the student/athletes they want to target.

What we do during this time of year is shine a spotlight on the talent who we have followed since they arrived in high school – and today – we once again look at some more Class of 2028 rising juniors who have a chance to be special:

[player_tooltip player_id='2091550' first='Mason' last='Beane'], LB, 5'11, 200, [player_tooltip player_id='1640270' first='St.' last='Augustine'] – 3.6 GPA. When the season ended and the Yellow Jackets looked back at the reasons they once again finished among the best programs in the state, it was the play of this impressive football prospect. In leading this team to an 11-2 record, he ended the year with a head-turning 142 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and eight sacks while showing leadership that you rarely see from someone so young. This will be one of the top returnees that college coaches and fans will keep an eye on.

Deagan McCoy, QB, 6'3, 190, Niceville – 4.24 GPA. When college coaches come through Florida this spring, there are going to be some impressive football players to watch. As they finally get to see these rising juniors in the Class of 2028 in person, they will find talent that has matured physically since the end of the season, but they will also have the opportunity to lay their own eyes on the prospects – and this is one they will be blown away with. Coming off a huge sophomore season where he posted numbers like 2,089 passing yards, 23 touchdowns on 159 of 244 attempts and 189 rushing yards for the Eagles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2070648' first='Daniel' last='Morgan'], DB, 5'10, 160, Pompano Beach Blanche Ely – 3.7 GPA. One of the prospects – at the recent Prep Redzone Florida Stock Up event in Winter Park – who made his way from Broward County and the storied Blanche Ely program and certainly made the most of his opportunity with a solid showing during testing (4.4 - 40), drills and competition. Has a chance to be special this off-season as the Tigers look to improve and once again be one of the top teams. His skills as a defensive back will continue to improve, but the best thing about this quality talent is he plays the game with passion and has the physical skill to compete.

Jordon Steijger-Vanderham, OL, 6'4, 280, Clearwater Central Catholic – 3.3 GPA. Yet another versatile football prospect in this class. Someone who can lineup at several positions on the line and not only give this program plenty to choose from, but also will have college coaches watching early on, projecting where he will be able to line up in the future. Watch him perform and you immediately see how quick he is off the ball, sustaining his blocks until the very end of the play and how he is willing to do whatever it takes to make each play successful. Has already started to receive offers, and with two seasons left, the attention will continue to pick up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1673959' first='Trevor' last='Thomas'], OL/DL, 6'2, 260, Wesley Chapel Wiregrass Ranch – 3.3 GPA. While we shined the spotlight on this two-way football talent, it was worth taking a closer look at the many things he does as he heads toward his junior season. Finding quality linemen who can play on both sides of the ball, and do it with plenty of talent, is not something that you find. But this gifted young man has the athleticism, quickness, improving strength and the knowledge to take on several roles for his team. As an offensive lineman, he is not shy to engage against anyone – big or small. Defensively, he is working on his footwork, but relies, right now, on his ability to anticipate. This spring and summer will truly tell a lot about his future as he visits camps and learns more about his craft.
