Rapid-fire transfer-portal movement dominated recruiting headlines all over the country for the first two and a half weeks of the new year.

That was as prevalent as anywhere in Louisiana where a long list of former prep standouts and current college players alike were on the move.

But once the transfer action largely subsided and college coaches were able to start hitting the roads and the phones to high school prospects, a slew of new offers headed out to rising seniors as the 2027 class begins to take more of the forefront in prep recruiting.

Note: Many colleges continued adding 2026 athletes on the traditional February signing day — although in many cases just some final pieces to incoming high school classes that were heavily stocked in December's early period — and some may potentially still find room for limited late additions.

But Prep Redzone Louisiana is in the process of through the biggest updates on the recruiting trail that caught our attention during the second half of January and first half of February, position group by position group as 2027 starts taking center stage.

Here's a look at a handful of wide receivers listed 6-feet and under, a mix of quick slot receivers and versatile inside-outside options. We'll look at bigger weapons, including tight ends, in another article.

[player_tooltip player_id='934574' first='Hendrix' last='Hill'] — 6-0, 185 WR/ATH — Isidore Newman

The son of former LSU and NFL linebacker Eric Hill hit the Prep Redzone Louisiana radar as an eighth-grade running back before developing into a highly ranked wide receiver and also garnering some work as a defensive back. College assistants at all three positions have visited recently, including a new offer from Oregon State.

[player_tooltip player_id='934564' first='Braylun' last='Huglon'] — 5-10, 175 ATH/WR — Calvary Baptist

Huglon began his high school career as a highly ranked two-way prospect, particularly at cornerback, on Prep Redzone Louisiana's 2027 list and has developed the past two years into one of the state's more explosive weapons. Oklahoma State and Liberty recently became the latest colleges to extend offers.

Reginald Monroe — 5-7, 165 WR/ATH — Hammond

The small, but quick and versatile athlete has kicked off his offseason with offers from UNLV and Oregon State after a decorated season in which he received recognition as both a a wide receiver and return specialist.

[player_tooltip player_id='723530' first='Ashton' last='Stark'] — 5-10, 170 WR/DB — Lutcher

Another versatile, three-phase standout who has been among Prep Redzone Louisiana's top-ranked 2027 prospects for years now, Stark has enjoyed the hottest stretch of his recruiting process to date during the past month and a half with Arkansas, Grambling State, Troy, Louisiana (Lafayette), Ole Miss, Houston, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State all making moves.

[player_tooltip player_id='1323402' first='Miguel' last='Whitley'] — 6-0, 180 WR — St. Augustine

and [player_tooltip player_id='1356127' first='Ray'Quan' last='Williams'] — 6-0, 163 WR — St. Augustine

The top two prospects in the Purple Knights' loaded wide receiver corps are two of the state's highest-ranked rising seniors. Williams is working his way back from an injury late last season, but nonetheless recently added Old Dominion to an already-long list of options he's working to trim down. Whitley's latest additions to his own meanwhile include Old Dominion, Louisiana (Lafayette) and Syracuse.
