2027 Eastern Kansas Prospect Spotlight

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we have started to dip into the next class of prospects, I'll showcase five 2027 kids from the Eastern half of the state who all college coaches need to be fully aware of. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We are heading down the homestretch for both the basketball and wrestling seasons but the 7-on-7 seasons are starting to kick-off throughout the state and region. Even though he prefers to to stay in the pocket, he has the definite ability to run with power when called upon. This past fall he rushed for 823-yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He also shows the ability to operate in the pocket very fluidity and makes quick sound decisions. If that means stepping up into the pass rush while keeping his eyes down field or moving side-to-side with ease. He shows that he can throw off platform when needed and still be highly effective. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">This past fall he passed for 2,238-yards and 25 touchdowns. He completed 68% of his passes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Those numbers helped him garner 1st Team 4A All-State quarterback and 1st Team All-North Central Kansas League at the same position. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Fulton should garner plenty of college attention and his 4.1 GPA in the classroom should improve his opportunities. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["944913"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-698a897f8cab9"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Briley is an explosive defensive lineman with versatility. He is able to play effectively as either a defensive tackle or as a defensive end. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He shows a very good initial burst off the line of scrimmage that would translate all across the defensive line. His hand usage is strong, as he is able to engage and shed offensive lineman with ease. Briley also showcases multiple moves at this disposal. Namely a swim move and a bull rush. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Even though he plays in the interior more times than not, when plays on the edge he is strong holding that edge in the run game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Overall, the two-time 1st Team 6A All-State defensive lineman and 1st Team All-Centennial League performer is a force to be reckoned with. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">This past season he had 50 tackles, eight sacks, 13 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one blocked field goal. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He also takes care of business in the classroom where he holds a 4.3 GPA. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1223983"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-698a897f8cb5c"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Standing 6-foot-0, 215-pounds, Brokob is a linebacker that plays physically down hill, can play sideline-to-sideline and inflicts a lot of pain every single snap. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">His 6-foot-2 wingspan allows him to play bigger and be more effective tackler overall. On the season he had a whopping 108 tackles from his middle linebacker position. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">His initial instincts after the snap has him always moving forwards reading his keys and him showing the willingness to engage and shed blockers with ease. He is also able to stay square and work down the line of scrimmage smoothly. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Brokob racked up not just huge tackling numbers, but he had one interception for a pick-six, five sacks, 13 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and even one blocked punt this past fall.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He was honored as a Honorable Mention 3A All-State linebacker, 1st Team All-Cherokee-Neosho-Crawford League linebacker and lastly was 1st Team Sports in Kansas Non-Senior All-State Small School. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":["not_in_db"],"_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_player_details_selected_featured_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_selected_featured_image":"field_62cca28ffa4e7","player_evaluations_0_player_details_player_name":"Steven Cantrell","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_player_name":"field_62aba4c9ecf2f","player_evaluations_0_player_details_graduating_class":"2027","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_graduating_class":"field_62aba4ddecf30","player_evaluations_0_player_details_height":"6'4u0022","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_height":"field_62aba4e8ecf31","player_evaluations_0_player_details_weight":"255","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_weight":"field_65b288425ecf6","player_evaluations_0_player_details_position":"2406","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_position":"field_62aba4f0ecf32","player_evaluations_0_player_details_school":"Washburn Rural ","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_school":"field_62aba4fdecf33","player_evaluations_0_player_details_club_program":"","_player_evaluations_0_player_details_club_program":"field_62d20e723441a","player_evaluations_0_player_details":"","_player_evaluations_0_player_details":"field_62aba4afecf2e","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-698a897f8cca4"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">The 6-foot-4, 255-pound Cantrell has a strongly built frame and good length for an ever developing defensive tackle prospect. He also has shown positional versatility being able to play both in the interior and on the edge. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Overall he shows good athletic ability and speed, where he runs a 4.84 forty. Cantrell also presents plenty of explosiveness where he has a 30-inch vertical. That has translated to two pass deflections this past fall (one led to an interception). </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He has a good burst off the line of scrimmage and shows a strong hand usage where he is able to shed blockers with ease. Ever developing pass rushing moves and he can always improve on his pad level. As he continues to fill out his frame and improve his technique, he could really become something big at the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">In eight games this past season, he registered 41 tackles, three sacks and four quarterback pressures.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He brought home 1st Team All-Centennial League defensive line honors and was also Honorable Mention 6A All-State at the same position. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Cantrell is also a good student, where he holds a 4.179 GPA in the classroom. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["933824"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-698a897f8cd45"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">The 6-foot-3, 165-pound Barta is a very long and athletic pass catcher who has been clocked at 4.55 in the forty, has a 9-foot-11 broad jump and can really get up there with a 35-foot-4 vertical. He is the type of athlete all colleges would love to have. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">He uses his length to his advantage but also gets in and out his routes very smoothly. He possesses good hands and is able to high point the ball with ease. Barta is able to attack a defense at all three levels but is most definitely a deep ball threat. Also a very willing blocker out on the edge. Overall he is one of the best returning receivers in the state. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Seaman was loaded at receiver but Barta was still able to produce very solid numbers. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">The Honorable Mention 5A All-State receiver and 2nd Team All-United Kansas League receiver had 38 receptions for 642 yards and hauled in 10 touchdowns. That was good enough for an average of 71.3 yards per game and 16.9 yards per catch. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Barta comes from an athletic family, where he has had three older brothers who played college football. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">In the end he is a natural leader who is humble and is not ego-driven. He succeeds in the classroom as a well, where he holds a 3.75 GPA. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Be on the look-out for more big time studs from across the State of Kansas.
