<p><strong>Per usual rankings are based on who projects highest at the collegiate level. You can be an outstanding HS athlete and not project to high level of collegiate ball. Have a look at the Oregon Top 100 for 2028 as we break down #51-100 on the defensive side of the ball. This list was put together in collaboration with Andrew Nemec.</strong></p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>*PLEASE NOTE: 40+ athletes were added to the 2028 rankings board so multiple individuals will drop numerous spots for that reason alone. </strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='1636376' first='Tyten' last='Davis'] of Grants Pass and [player_tooltip player_id='1750258' first='Lyric' last='Samuelu'] were both lineman who did well at the varsity level as sophomores. Davis was an honorable mention all-conference selection on O but will project more on defense as a 6-0 235-pound two-way starter. Samuelu has a bigger presence at 6-0 290 pounds starting on offense for the Hawks. I would expect him to do well on D also. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2105962' first='Isaac' last='Moaliitele'] of Sheldon was another all-conference O lineman who thrived on D. Much like Davis and Samuelu, he will project defensively finishing his 2025 campaign with 20 tackles. 5-11 210-pound DL [player_tooltip player_id='2104342' first='Tavian' last='Williams'] of Mountainside was a 3rd team all-Metro pick, and he will be one of the best 28's returning in the conference next season. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>From an LB standpoint Finnley Carrington of Churchill racked up 1st team all-conference honors as a sophomore with his team making the 5A semi's, with [player_tooltip player_id='1612569' first='Lincoln' last='Lutu'] of Beaverton possessing D1 genes and being a 3rd team all-Metro selection.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2105964' first='Josiah' last='Senados'] of West Salem had an all-conference season at backer and was one of the state's breakout 28's. [player_tooltip player_id='2109161' first='Lucas' last='Geaslin'] was key as a sophomore LB for a Ridgeview team that had their best season in school history. He finished among the state statistical leaders for his class with 60 tackles. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>In the secondary, there are multiple individuals who made some noise this past season. State Wrestling Champ [player_tooltip player_id='2054811' first='Isaac' last='Conner'] of Mountainside will likely project as a 1st team all-Metro kid next year. He earned 3rd team honors this past season. [player_tooltip player_id='1751515' first='DuShawn' last='Stephens'] of Crescent Valley was influential as a freshman and came back strong again finishing with 22 tackles and 9 PBU's to go with 600+ all-purpose yards and 5 TDs on offense. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Coach AJ Robinson has done an outstanding job at Sprague with the Oly's continuing to get better as a program. [player_tooltip player_id='1760617' first='Julian' last='Lutz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2105958' first='Malakai' last='Aballay'] were both all-conference selections as sophomores with Lutz making 49 tackles and 5 PBU's, in what was a very impressive season. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2106058' first='Cal' last='Johnson'] of Vale was listed among the top 3A players in the state and one of only a few 28's to earn all-state honors. He was a 2nd team DB and honorable mention QB. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Two other undersized 5-8 athletes who did well include [player_tooltip player_id='1990104' first='Barrett' last='Kleiven'] of Lebanon and [player_tooltip player_id='2109160' first='Daniel' last='Jetty'] of South Eugene. Jetty made 50+ tackles and looked good running the ball for a South program where times are tough. </p>
