7A District 16 RBs Set to Shine Next Season

Florida has long been a hotbed of high school football talent. Annually, Florida produces some of the nation's top prospects. Florida athletes are known for their speed, agility, and raw athleticism. These prospects have made names for themselves and have caught the attention of coaches and scouts at the collegiate level. With the 2025 season over, we're looking for players whose stock is rising in the state.   These players are all talented and have college-level abilities. Some of these players have a few offers, but all of them have the ability to play college football at some level.   There are some big-time, highly rated prospects and several sleeper prospects who should all be getting looks for the next level. This list is full of stud prospects. Aiden Butler – RB, Miami Palmetto High (c/o 2027) Height/Weight: 5'9”, 180 lbs Season Stats: 106 carries for 884 yds and 15 TDs; 18 receptions for 198 yds and 2 TDs   Scouting Report: Butler is a decisive, physical runner with the ability to break tackles and gain consistent yardage between the tackles. He shows good vision at the line of scrimmage and the hands to contribute in the passing game.   Analysis: Butler projects as a three-down back capable of producing both on the ground and as a receiver. Continued work on burst and agility will enhance his explosiveness, but his combination of power, vision, and receiving ability already makes him a versatile 2027 prospect.   Andrew Simmons – RB, South Dade High (c/o 2028) Height/Weight: 5'7”, 170 lbs Season Stats: 118 carries for 667 yds and 4 TDs   Scouting Report: Simmons is a compact, quick back who thrives in space and shows natural balance through contact. He displays good patience and vision, allowing him to find creases and turn them into positive gains.   Analysis: Simmons projects as a productive back in open-field schemes. Adding strength and finishing ability near the goal line will improve his profile, but his speed and instincts make him an intriguing 2028 prospect.   Jayden Shropshire – RB/WR, South Dade High (c/o 2027) Height/Weight: 5'5”, 170 lbs Season Stats: 57 carries for 553 yds and 2 TDs; 47 receptions for 583 yds and 4 TDs   Scouting Report:  Shropshire is a dynamic, multi-dimensional athlete with the ability to impact both the ground and passing game. He shows quickness, change-of-direction skills, and reliable hands out of the backfield.   Analysis: Shropshire projects as a versatile offensive weapon capable of lining up in multiple positions. Improving strength and durability will allow him to handle a heavier workload, but his speed, agility, and receiving ability already make him a standout 2027 prospect.   Demetrius Whipple – RB, South Dade High (c/o 2027) Height/Weight: 5'7”, 185 lbs Season Stats: 24 carries for 148 yds   Scouting Report: Whipple is a well-built runner with natural lower-body power and good vision. Though lightly used, he demonstrates the ability to make defenders miss and gain tough yardage after contact.   Analysis: Whipple is a sleeper prospect with upside as a short-yardage or situational back. Increasing reps and developing speed will improve his production, but his size, power, and instincts make him an intriguing developmental candidate for 2027.
