Historic Bryant Stadium turned into one of the better spring evaluation settings of the weekend as Lakeland hosted Buchholz and Port Charlotte for two days of competition. With multiple college coaches in attendance and several state semifinal-caliber programs on the field, this felt far more intense than a typical spring showcase. Plenty of prospects helped themselves Friday night.

QBs

[player_tooltip player_id='1158090' first='Logan' last='Flaherty'] | QB | 2027 | Port Charlotte | @Lflahertyqb17

Flaherty checked a lot of boxes Friday night. The arm talent has always been there, but what really stood out was how comfortably he created outside structure. He moved well, extended plays, and looked far more explosive as an athlete than some expected. The confidence and command continue trending upward, and with his physical tools and ability to attack all levels of the field, he looks like a quarterback trending toward a Power Four future.

[player_tooltip player_id='2198028' first='Andrew' last='Whittemore'] | QB | 2028 | Buchholz | @AndrewWhit19

First live look for many on hand, and Whittemore definitely left an impression. Good size, live arm, and competitive energy throughout the night. He pushed the ball vertically with confidence, flashed mobility when plays broke down, and responded well in pressure moments. The leadership traits stood out just as much as the talent. Easy to see why he's becoming one of the more talked about 2028 quarterbacks in Florida.

Kelin Hendrix | QB | 2027 | Lakeland | @HendrixKelin

Hendrix remains one of the more dangerous playmakers in the state because of what he does outside the pocket. Defenses have to account for his legs every snap, and when he's decisive as a runner, the offense hits another gear. Showed flashes of growth as a passer Friday night with improved timing and confidence pushing the football downfield. Still developing, but the upside remains very high.

ATHs / Skill Players

Marquell Brooks | ATH | Buchholz | @MarquelBrooksjr

Brooks made some of the biggest plays of the night, including multiple explosive deep-ball grabs. The athleticism and body control immediately stand out, especially in contested situations. At 6-foot with return value and versatility, he's the type of prospect who could see his recruitment take off with more offseason exposure.

Cameron Burse | ATH | 2028 | Buchholz | @CAMRONBURSE1

Burse brings real upside because of his length, coordination, and ability to win vertically. He tracks the football naturally and competes well at the catch point. Also flashed value defensively in the secondary. One of those younger athletes whose ceiling keeps climbing as the frame develops.

Jaylen Francis | WR | Port Charlotte | @JaylenFrancis_

Francis used this setting to remind people he's much more than a complementary weapon. He consistently created plays alongside four-star WR [player_tooltip player_id='2137667' first='Elias' last='Pearl'] and looked comfortable handling volume. Dynamic athlete with value in multiple phases, including special teams. Definitely helped himself Friday night.

Joseph Howard | WR | 2027 | Lakeland | @jokerwondr

Howard came through in key moments and made multiple momentum-changing plays for Lakeland. His speed and route detail continue improving, and he's becoming more complete as a receiver overall. Dangerous vertically and after the catch, with traits that fit perfectly in Lakeland's offense.

Bruce Blanden | RB/OLB | 2028 | Port Charlotte | @BruceBlanden

One of the more underrated two-way prospects in Southwest Florida right now. Physically built, runs hard, and flashes real upside at linebacker as well. The motor and toughness stand out immediately. Expect more college programs to start getting involved this summer because the tools are obvious.

Ah'Narri Cooper | RB | 2028 | Lakeland | @1wayNarri

The talent jumps out quickly with Cooper. Smooth mover, explosive in space, and instinctive for his age. He's already carrying recruiting buzz for a reason, and as his frame keeps developing, the upside remains extremely high. One of the more exciting young backs in Polk County.

Trenches / Defense

[player_tooltip player_id='866837' first='Dracen' last='Martin'] | DE | 2028 | Buchholz | @DracenMartin14

Martin looked every bit like a high-level edge prospect Friday night. At 6-3, 250 pounds, he already has the frame and physicality college coaches look for. Strong at the point of attack, violent with his hands, and productive. The sophomore's 12.5 sacks from last season clearly weren't a fluke.

[player_tooltip player_id='1655458' first='Drew' last='Sapp'] | EDGE | 2027 | Lakeland | @SappDrew2027

Sapp continues trending upward in a major way. Legitimate EDGE frame at 6-3, 250 with burst off the football and the ability to convert speed to power. He impacted multiple reps Friday night and continues looking like one of the fastest-rising defensive prospects in the state.

Messiah Grant | ATH | 2027 | Buchholz | @MessiahGent18

Grant consistently disrupted things defensively with his length and timing. Physical athlete who plays with effort and flashes positional versatility. The combination of size, athleticism, and instincts makes him a problem for offenses to account for.

[player_tooltip player_id='2201964' first='Joshua' last='Menefee'] | RB | 2028 | Buchholz | @joshmenefee4

Menefee looked like a back more people need to know about. Strongly built at around 5-10, 195 pounds with enough burst to create chunk plays. Runs hard between the tackles and gives Buchholz another offensive weapon defenses can't ignore.

[player_tooltip player_id='2151021' first='Andre' last='Scott'] | DB | 2029 | Port Charlotte | @AndreScott34

Scott does not play like a freshman. True ballhawk tendencies with confidence and instincts already showing up at a high level. Earning a starting role on a state-level program as a freshman says a lot by itself. One of the more impressive long-term defensive prospects on the field Friday.

Travoris Black | ATH | 2027 | Lakeland | @TravorisBlack4

Black continues building momentum this offseason. He brought energy and physicality to Lakeland's secondary and flashed strong instincts in coverage. Comfortable coming downhill and tackling while still showing enough fluidity to hold up in space. Another athlete whose recruitment is starting to trend upward.
