We had a lot of additions, obviously, but we also saw five players give us every reason to improve their ranking after we got saw even more from them during the 2025 season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1590515' first='Josiah' last='Singleton'] LB, Fort Dorchester (Up one spot to No. 3)

While Singleton was on a team that was altered by a number of transfers, we're not sure he wasn't going to earn significant playing time no matter what. The middle linebacker was often the most impactful player on the field for the Patriots and was second on the team in tackles (73) while adding three tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. That first season gives everyone plenty of hope for just how good he can be.

[player_tooltip player_id='1816732' first='Rasean' last='Brown'] RB, South Pointe (Up one spot to No. 4)

Brown was sitting second on the Stallions' depth chart behind big brother RJ, but he was anything but idle during South Pointe's Class 4A state championship run. Rasean finished the year with 581 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. His first cut was electric and often put him into a straight-line look at wide open territory. Behind a powerful offensive line, he averaged 8.8 yards per carry as a freshman and rushed for 250 yards in the playoffs alone.

[player_tooltip player_id='1881741' first='Bear' last='Woods'] QB, Westside (Up one spot to No. 5)

The top quarterback in our 2029 rankings came into school with some serious name recognition and a family pedigree for success. Woods didn't disappoint. In throwing for 2,318 yards and 22 touchdowns, he kept this high-flying offense moving without a hitch after his older brother, Cutter, graduated. What impressed us most about the younger Woods is that he completed 58 percent of his passes and only had six interceptions. Here's his playoff performance against Wren.

[player_tooltip player_id='1301735' first='Dash' last='Holley'] DL, Northwestern (Up five spots to No. 13)

Much like Brown at South Pointe, Holley got five extra games worth of experience via a state championship run, and we're positive that time under the brighter lights of the postseason will pay dividends for the next version of Holley we see for the Trojans. The defensive end finished his rookie season with 25 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and this reel-opening pick-six when he made a nifty read against Nation Ford back in September.

[player_tooltip player_id='1881794' first='Ethan' last='Shaw'] LB, Loris (Up nine spots to No. 8)

It took us all of about 15 seconds of watching Shaw (pictured) live in the preseason to recognize he was going to be a show stopper for the Lions defense. This is a program that knows how to develop linebackers in a hurry, and Shaw was no different in showing us that he was even better. He had 10 tackles in his second varsity game, finished the season with 108 total stops and showed his high-impact abilities with three interceptions, three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
