With our region's first significant snowfall imminent and looming, I was back on the grind. On Saturday, December 13, 2025 Prep Redzone was boots-on-the-ground in Warwick, New York as we hosted our latest rendition of the Stock Up Showcase. Below are my notes from the position group referenced in this article's title.

In perhaps the most physically impressive position group I have seen live, in-person in quite some time, their size was headlined by every last bit of mass from 6'5" 298lb [player_tooltip player_id='1864324' first='Justin' last='Joseph']. Joseph, who is preparing for his junior season, has all the size in the world to win 1v1 matchups. The best thing Joseph did was use his length, particularly in his arm, to keep opponents at bay and getting hands on him. Improved bend will help him moving forward. To compensate, Joseph was getting his base wider than you would like to see, preventing him from being able to power down and thus susceptible to being unable to power down or leaning and getting snatched.

In a similar way, Ernesto Ballesteros' game mimicked that of Joseph. Using his long arms to create space and distance, looked particularly sharp when he was inside instead of tackle. However, when he is at tackle it would be to his benefit to keep a knee-to-crotch relationship in order to protect both the inside and outside rushes. Furthermore, I thought that Ballesteros needed to improve the bend in his stance. Currently, he allows himself to be vulnerable to power rushes.

It was a mix day - albeit with mostly good results - for [player_tooltip player_id='1450968' first='Nate' last='Stiers']. Stiers did an excellent job of letting defenders ride themselves out of the play. More than once I saw him get his hands on a pass rushers hip, all the while keeping his feet moving - to usher defenders past the play outside. One defender caught wind of this and later beat Stiers inside. This error, a highly correctable one, had to do with Stiers losing his post foot. Because it retreated, he was unable to power down to recover. That said, it is a correctable technique problem that ought to be fixed by the time his junior season begins.
