With our region's first significant snowfall imminent and looming, I was back on the grind. On Saturday, December 13, 2025 Prep Redzone was boots-on-the-ground in Warwick, New York as we hosted our latest rendition of the Stock Up Showcase. Below are my notes from the position group referenced in this article's title.

Defensive back was the thinnest position group represented at this event. With one prospect's remarks being reserved for my positional MVP piece, I only have two to report on today. Although I did not think much of the 5'7" 168lb defensive back at first, once I was able to cross-reference the roster it made a whole lot more sense to me that [player_tooltip player_id='1643001' first='Mark' last='Vecchiarello'] is likely a safety. With his size at this point in his freshman year in high school, Vecchiarello is poised to be a great down-hill run stuffer. I thought that Vecchiarello was apply a speed-turn nicely in order to get down hill during indy. Later on, I was impressed with his ability to flip his hips, matching his opponents' every move. When he does get the opportunity, I want to see Vecchiarello look the ball into his hands since I saw him drop a clean pick... Softer hands would benefit [player_tooltip player_id='2066977' first='Anthony' last='Webb'] as well. Webb was dropping some balls during indy; however, he showcased a great deal of quickness.

The two linebackers featured today are a bit on the younger side. Like Vecchiarello before him, [player_tooltip player_id='2079587' first='Brayden' last='Wood'] was an impressive 2029 graduate. Wood, who has a stocky build right now, showed good balance as he moved. As a result, he did an outstanding job of taking the air out of any space during cat and mouse drills. Additionally, Wood brought it during 1v1s, doing an outstanding job of jamming at the line and being physical with throughout every part of the receiver's route within 5 yards... [player_tooltip player_id='2071258' first='Keagan' last='Welch'], as he prepares to enter his junior season, his footwork ought to be the priority. Welch took a few false steps backwards when I caught a look at him. Additionally, he must breakdown to balance when closing in on the ball carrier so he does not whiff.
