With the offseason here, we get to evaluate talent in prospect camps and combines for the next six months+. My journey started today with the Prep Redzone Michigan Stock Up Showcase. There was a great batch of talent in the Great Lakes state that was in attendance, and I want to discuss some of the top-performing defensive backs from today's event.

MVPs

Noah was voted as the top MVP for the DB's. He was sticky all day. He has a great mindset of eliminating space for receivers and forcing them to make great plays over him, rather than giving them any space on the inside. He has great hand placement and knows how to manipulate his man. Noah was one of my favorite players to watch from start to finish.

Brayden was another one of my favorite defenders to watch, and it must be fun for the PRZ Michigan scouts to watch, too, as he currently holds a top-100 ranking in the 2028 rankings. He was a tough defender to get past, with fluid hips and great athleticism. I like him as a slot corner, as his size limits him on the boundary a bit, and his ability to match up on a range of weapons from running backs to tight ends is prevalent. He is a smart defender with great instincts.

Julian was a complete package as a defender in today's event. He's got a compact frame and can put his hands on you at the LOS. He's a fluid athlete who can cover well laterally and can run down the field on his receivers hip. Julian must be a terrible matchup for boundary receivers.

Top Performers

Greysen shone in 1v1's at the end of the day. He has excellent length and good positional awareness. He can dictate where receivers go and does a good job at matching routes. He'll need to put on some weight as he grows, but I can see a world where Greysen is playing boundary corner at the next level.

Blake was the smallest DB in our pool, but he doesn't let that stop him. He's quick to react and can flip his hips well to stick with his man. He's got full field coverability and can match up with anyone in the slot. He made several plays that make you feel that his size isn't much of a disadvantage.

Holman made some early plays on when receivers were going through vertical releases against the DBs, but his day took off in the 1v1's. Brandon is a tremendous athlete. His recovery in pass coverage is great, and he is able to make plays on the ball. He's tough at the snap and can go step for step in man coverage. After a great season, Brandon is still impressing in the offseason.

Brad was the lone senior in our DB group. He is very physical and is good with his hands at the LOS. He's got impressive size and makes himself a tough matchup. He'll be a versatile piece for a defense at the collegiate level.
