IMG Stays At No. 1 From Start To Finish

While they didn't have to go through the stressful state playoffs – which is a five-week grind of games each week, IMG Academy did win all the contests that they played.
The Ascenders, loaded with elite talent from across the country, cruised through their nine game schedule – many against Florida talent.
Making the decision to rank IMG as a team and to include their players in our individual rankings includes them as a Florida team – and for that reason – they stand on top at the end of the year as the No. 1 program.
Could they beat St. Thomas Aquinas, Sarasota Cardinal Mooney or Jacksonville Raines? That is something that we will not find out this year, but moving forward, maybe that will happen.
Next year, maybe a game with Florida powers should be in the works.
While IMG finished their season early, let's give the seven state champions who endured the 14 or 15 games to call themselves state champions the respect that they deserve.
With all that in mind, here is the final Prep Redzone Florida top 30
1. Bradenton IMG Academy (Independent, 9-0). SEASON OVER.
2. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (5A, 14-1). LAST WEEK: The Raiders won for the seventh straight year, 29-0 over No. 15 Lakeland. SEASON OVER.
3. Sarasota Cardinal Mooney (2A, 14-1). LAST WEEK: The Cougars dominated No. 12 Jacksonville Bolles, 52-28, in the title game. SEASON OVER.
4. Jacksonville Raines (3A, 14-0). LAST WEEK: The Vikings stunned No. 5 Miami Northwestern, 23-22, for a perfect year. SEASON OVER.
5. Miami Northwestern (3A, 13-1). LAST WEEK: The Bulls dropped the final game in dramatic fashion to No. 4 Jacksonville Raines, 23-22. SEASON OVER.
6. West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman (1A, 12-3). LAST WEEK: The Crusaders upended national power No. 10 Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, 17-14. SEASON OVER.
7. West Boca Raton (6A, 13-2). LAST WEEK: For the second consecutive year, the Bulls took home the state title, 31-0, against No. 18 West Broward. SEASON OVER.
8. Lake Mary (7A, 12-3). LAST WEEK: The Rams put on a miraculous comeback to beat No. 9 Vero Beach, 28-27, on the final play. SEASON OVER.
9. Vero Beach (7A, 14-1). LAST WEEK: It was heartbreak for the Indians as they lost on the final play of the game in a contest for the ages against No. 8 Lake Mary. SEASON OVER.
10. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1A, 11-3). LAST WEEK: The Lions, who were making their 10th straight trip to the title game, lost a 17-14 game to No. 6 West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman. SEASON OVER.
11. Plantation American Heritage (4A, 9-5). LAST WEEK: The defending state champion Patriots once again came through when it counted, beating No. 13 Orlando Jones, 33-28. SEASON OVER.
12. Jacksonville Bolles (2A, 13-2). LAST WEEK: The Bulldogs just didn't have enough for the No. 3 Sarasota Cardinal Mooney Cougars, losing 52-28. SEASON OVER.
13. Orlando Jones (4A, 12-3). LAST WEEK: For the second straight year, the Tigers were beaten by No. 11 Plantation American Heritage, 33-28. SEASON OVER.
14. Seffner Armwood (6A, 13-1). SEASON OVER.
15. Lakeland (5A, 12-3). LAST WEEK: For the second consecutive year, the Dreadnaughts couldn't get by No. 2 Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, losing 29-0. SEASON OVER.
