In what seemed like such a quick season, the 2025 high school football season came to an end in the state of Kentucky this past weekend. This year's KHSAA State Championship games provided some very exciting matchups filled with impressive individual performances. However, some players stood out above the rest and I wanted to take some time to focus on the top performers from championship weekend. To kick things off, here are my offensive top performers from this year's KHSAA State Championship games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200686' first='Seneca' last='Driver'] continued to assert his dominance in Boyle County's 4A State Championship victory over Franklin County, earning MVP honors for the game. He showed tremendous contested catch ability on a fake field goal pass thrown to him, leaping over tight coverage to make the catch then use his speed to get to the end zone. Driver caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown in the game. He also served a very reliable short yardage back, carrying the ball nine times for 39 yards and two scores. Driver also made an impact on defense, recording five tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack. Seneca holds a long list of Power 4 offers and I expect them to continue to pile up moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1706081' first='JiDyn' last='Smith-Hisel'] is another player who stood out in the Rebels' win last week. He led the team in rushing, carrying the ball 30 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns. JiDyn showed impressive patience, letting his blocks set up then following it up with the vision to find the open running lane and hit it with a sense of urgency. He also showed the speed to run away from the defense on long runs once he hit the open field. Smith-Hisel also caught two passes for 18 yards in the win. JiDyn doesn't have any reported offers but he definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1274991' first='Deion' last='Davidson'] was named MVP of the 1A State Championship Game after a strong performance in KCD's win over Raceland. Davidson led his team in rushing, carrying the ball 10 times for 78 yards and a touchdown. He proved to be a very shifty ball carrier, showing the ability to make quick cuts in the open field to make defenders miss with ease. Davidson also showed the speed to break away for long runs once he hit the second level. He also caught a 20-yard pass and played a role on defense, finishing the game with seven tackles and one tackle for loss. Deion is a player who college coaches should keep a close eye on heading into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='951327' first='Nash' last='Whelan'] had a strong sophomore season and capped it off by leading the Eagles to a 2A State Championship victory over Owensboro Catholic. Whelan completed 14/20 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns. He showed impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit receivers out of their breaks so that they could make catches in stride. He also showcased his dual-threat ability, running the ball 21 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns. His play earned him MVP honors for the game. Nash is a player who I expect college coaches to have on their radar this offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='1701057' first='Jackson' last='Burke'] capped off a very impressive sophomore year with a perfect performance in the 3A State Championship Game. He led the Centurions to their fourth-consecutive title, completing 14/14 passes for 324 yards and five touchdown, earning him MVP honors. Burke did a great job of going through his progressions, scanning the secondary effectively to find the open receiver. He also showed impressive ball placement, putting his passes in a spot where only his intended receiver could catch them. Burke's performance secured a national all-time record for completion percentage in a season, finishing at 83.2 % for the year. Jackson currently holds an offer from UT-Martin and I expect more to come his way going into his junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='466365' first='Ja'Hyde' last='Brown'] was Burke's go-to receiver in their dominant win over Murray. He caught a team-high six passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Brown showcased the ability to use his speed and smooth breaks in his routes to create separation from opposing defensive backs with ease. When defenders were able to keep up with him, Brown showed the ability to use his athleticism to attack passes at their highest point along with the strong hands to bring in catches through contact. Brown currently holds several Power 4 offers and I expect more to come for him as he is a high-caliber wide receiver prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='401707' first='Evan' last='Hampton'] left zero doubt that he is the best running back in the state in Owensboro's 5A State Championship win over Pulaski County. He led his team in rushing, carrying the ball 11 times for 108 yards and three touchdowns, which earned him MVP honors for the game. Hampton was able to use his explosive speed to burst through the running lane quickly then run away from the defense on long runs. He also showed the contact balance to break tackles with ease without losing stride. Hampton also caught one pass for eight yards in the win. Evan signed to play college football at Vanderbilt where I can see him having a very successful career at the next level.

My final offensive top performer from this past weekend's state championship action in Kentucky is [player_tooltip player_id='408839' first='Jamaurion' last='Berry']. Berry helped lead the Shamrocks to their third-straight 6A state title in a win over South Warren, carrying the ball 10 times for a team-high 78 yards and two touchdowns. He proved to be a strong runner, showing the ability to lower his shoulder and keep his legs churning to run straight through defenders to break tackles with ease. Once he hit the open field, Berry showed the elusiveness to make defenders miss and burst of speed to run away from the defense. His play earned him MVP honors for the game. Jamaurion currently holds an offer from Warner and I wouldn't be surprised to see more come his way this offseason.
