The road to the AYF National championship wasn't without trials and tribulations. In their opening game, Winslow grinded out a 25-19 victory over the Philly Blackhawks, their neighbors from across the Delaware River. In their next game they took on Team 808 Elite out of Hawaii, but due to ineligible players, the South Jersey squad moved onto the championship game. In the title game, they took down The Legacy U Hurricanes out of Ohio 19-13 to earn the crown. Below are some of the standout prospects that caught my eye during the week.

The fact that McCrary is only a 2032 prospect (in 6th grade for the 2025-2026 school year), should put fear in the hearts of youth football programs throughout the Garden State. Lined up at Wide Receiver and Running Back on offense, can play nearly any position on defense and is simply a step above many others at this point. Also a defending USA Wrestling New Jersey State Champion on the wrestling mat, McCrary has the potential to become one of that state's most elite multi-sport prospects over the next few years. He's a kid I would buy stock in very early. Stud.

On an extremely well-balanced team with plenty of talent that projects to the next level at this point, starting Left Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2083841' first='Ka'ron' last='Stephney'] looked the most ready up front. Size, strength, long arms, an apparent switch that can be flipped -- he checks all the boxes. This team had a lot of skill position players that could impact the game at any time, but none of that would be possible without an O-Line that dominated in the trenches.

I make very little attempts to hide the fact that I feel genetics are at least 60% of the puzzle when doing my job -- which is projecting who will become the next top college football players. With a Dad/Head Coach who played at Rutgers before stops with Dallas and Tampa Bay in the NFL, Winslow QB [player_tooltip player_id='2083781' first='Kingston' last='Glaud'] is up (Prep Redzone) Next. On the field, the southpaw Quarterback is different in every sense of the word. I didn't hear him say much of anything at AYF Nationals, as he just went out there and helped lead the team to victory. Absolutely can use his legs if he needs to, but he has one of the most impressive arms I've seen anywhere in the country in this 2032 class. I'm sure I'm not first to say it locally, but on the national level -- this kid has "IT". Stay tuned.

Another prospect that is only in the class of 2032 (in 6th grade for the 2025-2026 school year), the kid they call Sonic was a big reason why Winslow was able to grab a ring. The younger brother of standout 2030 QB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='1583397' first='RJ' last='Finlaw'] doesn't have the size of big brother (yet) but certainly has the playmaking ability. At AYF Nationals in Florida, Finlaw had big interceptions against both 808 Elite out of Hawaii and the Legacy U Hurricanes out of Ohio from his Safety position. The pic against Legacy U in the championship game was especially impressive, showing off joystick-like quickness on the return. You following the video game theme, here?

A prospect that already stands out, but also hasn't even started to scratch the surface of what he could potentially come. Comes with a high cut frame, featuring long arms and legs which seemingly make up the majority of his taller body. Has considerable thickness on his bones yet can still move like a kid without the good mass. He gets the designation of ATH (athlete) because he can line up at any number of positions and lists himself as a Running Back, Wide Receiver and Middle Linebacker. However, I could see him eventually playing Tight End or Edge too. Okoro also has big, strong hands and made a number of one-handed catches look effortless.

One of the tallest prospects on this team, Perry started at Left Tackle on offense and bounced between Defensive End and Defensive Tackle on the opposite side of the ball. Passes the eye test right away with considerable size and muscle for this age group. He has aspirations of playing Tight End down the line and certainly has the build to do some. Regardless of where he lines up on the field, he's an aggressive kid who drops his levels and wins most of the one-on-one battles he gets involved in. There's a lot to like here right now and even more to look forward to.

Out of all the studs on this AYF National Championship-winning team, perhaps no weapon was more sure-handed than Terron Birch Jr. The tough wideout lined up alongside and often motioned to the same side as [player_tooltip player_id='2083718' first='Eli' last='McCrary'], making it tough for the defense to double cover either members of the duo. During the season, and certainly while down at AYF Nationals, Birch Jr. showed off elite hands. Any time he had even the least bit of space, he was able to bring in even the most tightly-contested balls. In addition to what he did on offense, he also played Defensive Back and returned punts.

This team and article is riddled with explosive playmakers and home run hitters. However, none of the big plays would be possible without a tough Offensive Line and a running game that keeps the defense honest -- enter power back [player_tooltip player_id='2084125' first='LJ' last='Lundy']. Lundy often lined up behind the O-Line and tight to the line of the scrimmage, appearing almost as an H-Back at times. When he got the ball he served as a battering ram of a bull carrier who ran hard and downhill. Proving he's not just a one-trick pony, he also ran routes and made a few nice catches. Though he's built like a MLB, he also played Outside Linebacker and Edge on defense.

Additional Winslow Elite Boyz Notable Prospects

[player_tooltip player_id='2083705' first='Darius' last='Harrison Jr.'] | Defensive Back | 2032 - Passed the eye test right away when watching the team warmup. Possesses a very solid build for this age and looks the part of a big time athlete. Also a standout on the track, he played with great fundamentals as a Corner and showed off gifted speed and acceleration/deceleration while in man coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id='2083759' first='Thomas' last='Brown'] | Offensive/Defensive Line | 2032 - The starter at Left Guard on offense and Defensive Tackle on the opposite side of the ball, Brown comes with good size for a prospect only in the 6th grade. Showed off a very good first step on the DL and played with fast, violent hands -- a skill that very few bigs at this level have developed. I liked him more and more, as I watched film.

[player_tooltip player_id='2084163' first='Aahsier' last='Thompson'] | Athlete | 2032 - On any other team in the state Thompson would likely be the featured weapon offensively, with his ability. However, on a deep team like this with a lot of mouths to feed, Thompson had to make the most of his touches. He's a really good looking, slippery athlete with the ability to play Wide Receiver, Running Back and Defensive Back. Continue to keep an eye on Thompson

[player_tooltip player_id='2084167' first='Anthony' last='Ahiem'] | Offensive/Defensive Line | 2032 - Rounding out this write up is [player_tooltip player_id='2084167' first='Anthony' last='Ahiem'], who started at Center for this team. They operated almost exclusively out of the shotgun, which is an advanced skill for a Center at this level to routinely do without bad snaps.
