Top Performers: Bullitt East v. North Hardin

Bullitt East advanced to the next round of the playoffs courtesy of a 28-21 victory over North Hardin on Thursday. Prep Red Zone was on the ground at the game, and here are four standouts.    Covyeow is a strong defensive tackle who has a solid first step and can hold the point of attack. Hard to move, tough and rugged, he often occupies space and frees up other defenders to make tackles. He takes great angles to the ball and flashes a high motor as a run defender, and if left unblocked can wreck havoc on opposing quarterbacks.     [player_tooltip player_id='971543' first='Jakylin' last='Kirkland'] was undoubtedly a top performer in spite of the loss. The offense made adjustments at halftime to get him to run and make plays with his legs, and it paid off. The offense quickly scored two touchdowns and had Bullitt East on their heals thanks to his dual-threat ability; he flashes great vision and can make defenders miss. He threw a very accurate pass on fourth down late in the game that would have put North Hardin ahead and given them a lead, but the on-target pass was dropped.     The Bullitt East offense is fueled by their running backs, notably Cole Fackler. Fackler is a very tough tailback who requires multiple defenders to bring him down. He loves contact, runs over defenders and finishes forward. He is at his best when bulldozing between the tackles. Down the stretch, he made big third-down conversions that kept drives alive and sealed the win.     Jack Pope made the game-winning touchdown. Tall and strong, he displays good height for the position and is solid after the catch. Pope is more of a possession wideout who can high-point the ball and win one-on-one battles. Just a sophomore, so keep an eye on his development over the next couple of years.
