We'll get to those responsible for those touchdowns in a minute. A huge reason for their success was due to the work that the offensive line put in to open the holes for the backs. Archbishop Spalding has a big line with guys that can move and block moving targets. This past Friday, Ledbetter rushed 14 times for 246 yards and four touchdowns in a resounding win for Archbishop Spalding over Mount St. Joseph. Three of the four touchdowns were from 45-plus yards out. Ledbetter also had a few runs where he showed his leg strength and proved tough to take down. HIs line opened up holes for him, but he definitely did his part by running through leg tackles and running past defenders. Pinson scored two touchdowns against MSJ and had numerous ones where he broke tackles and finished with authority. I was impressed with a couple of runs where he made the first man miss near the line of scrimmage. Igwebe caught a touchdown pass and returned a couple of kickoffs for a nice amount of yardage. There was one touchdown run where Igwebe showed why downfield blocks are often the reason long touchdown runs take place. On one particular play, his stalk block on the safety made a way for Ledbetter to finish running untouched to the end zone for one of his touchdowns. Vass caught seven passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns. Both of those touchdowns were of the long variety. He has the long speed, is quick out of his cuts, and his elusive.
