The playoff results for the weekend of 11/14 featured intense matchups between high-level teams that exchanged blows. One game resulted in a team advancing to the states, while the other determined the winner of the AA Sectionals title.

A cold battle between the Brighton Bruins and the East/World of Inquiry Golden Eagles in the state qualifier playoff game. That said, it was a fast start for the Golden Eagles as QB Tate Brown found WR/DB Legacy Taylor over the middle of the field. Taylor used his YAC ability and ran away from multiple defenders to race into the end zone. The Brighton Bruins did respond with a 4-yard [player_tooltip player_id='1624577' first='Clarence' last='Bell'] score with the first possession in the 2nd quarter. To end the half, Brighton did try a double pass, which resulted in an interception by Taylor.

From the start of the 2nd half, RB/S [player_tooltip player_id='820006' first='Justin' last='Medina'] was able to pick up huge gains for the Bruins. One gain by Medina resulted in a trip inside the red zone. Henceforth that set up an 8-yard TD run for LB/RB Zachary Rossignol. Equally, it was a strong performance from Rossignol, as he delivered powerful runs inside the LOS. Nonetheless, DB/WR Patrick Rohr came away with an interception to stop one of the Golden Eagles' deep drives in Brighton territory. The biggest play for the Bruins was DB/WR Leo Hopkins coming away with an electric pick-6 to help ice the game away.

East/WOIS kept fighting as WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1354566' first='Darius' last='Weathers'] returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD to make it a one-score game. Brighton did have one final drive to win the game with a field goal, as the final score read 24-14.

Class AA Champions: Penfield High School

Once again the Penfield Patriots conduct a huge upset win vs the Pittsford Panthers in the AA Championship. Basically, the first quarter was a close match with neither team able to put points on the board. Conveniently, Lorenzo Geminiani's 43-yard field goal allowed the Panthers to score first. CB/WR Dayshawn Preston was able to jump a deep shot for a momentum-swinging interception.

After halftime, it continued to be a stalemate for the beginning of the third quarter. Given that, the Panthers' defense did stop the Patriots' offense on the 2-yard line. That turned into an 11-yard Preston TD.

In the 4th quarter, the game took a turn as Penfield started to get going. The Patriots recovered a fumble by DL Jack Bidleman. Significantly, QB Dominic Giunta started to use his legs to gain large chunks of yards. In due time, Giunta had a 12-yard TD run to take the lead. DB Jake Maurer blocked a punt to set up a 4-yard TD rush by [player_tooltip player_id='1207735' first='AJ' last='Theodorakakos']. Pittsford tried to close up the game, but Jake Maurer intercepted a 3rd & goal pass to seal the win for Penfield. This is Penfield's first Section V title in football.
