Louisiana's high school football playoffs kicked off this past weekend.

Each week, we'll give a quick update of some of the notable outcomes and top performers in each division and potential matchups to watch in the next round.

Check out the Division-I Non-Select capsule below.

Biggest upset by seeds: No. 26 Barbe beat No. 7 Northwood (Shreveport), 49-21.

Other upsets: No. 18 Mandeville beat No. 15 Thibodaux, 48-21.

Closest game: No. 9 Terrebonne beat No. 24 Natchitoches Central, 27-24.

Biggest margin: No. 12 East Ascension beat No. 21 West Ouachita, 57-17.

Biggest surprise: Not a particularly big surprise in Division-I Non-Select in terms of outcomes. No. 18 Mandeville vs. No. 15 Thibodaux felt like a potential toss-up. And No. 26 Barbe was the biggest seeding underdog in any division to earn a win, but was a solid team with some momentum whose upset we predicted. The lopsidedness of a few of the matchups was maybe the most eye-catching.

Other notes: As mentioned above, No. 26 Barbe is the lowest seed anywhere in the state to pull off an upset Friday. The Buccaneers' 49-21 win at Northwood (Shreveport) marked their first playoff win since 2017. No. 9 Terrebonne survived No. 24 Natchitoches Central on a missed Chiefs field goal late. No. 12 East Ascension and No. 14 Ouachita Parish won their first playoff games since 2022, and and No. 6 Parkway its first since 2021. No. 4 Denham Springs vs. No. 13 Zachary and No. 5 Central (Baton Rouge) vs. No. 12 East Ascension set up an entirely capital area quadrant of the bracket. No. 3 Destrehan and No. 14 Ouachita Parish will meet for the second straight postseason. No. 1 Ruston and No. 16 Westgate will meet in a rematch of a 2023 second-round game that was the closest the top-seeded Bearcats face don their title run that season. And No. 10 West Monroe and No. 26 Barbe will meet in a rematch of several past playoff battles, including a 2017 quarterfinal that ended the Buccaneers' most recent deep playoff run.

Intriguing second-round matchup: No. 3 Destrehan vs. No. 14 Ouachita Parish

Most intriguing possible quarterfinal matchup: No. 2 Neville vs. No. 10 West Monroe
