Calvert Hall vs. Concordia Prep: Top 5 defensive performers

Both teams really limited the number of big plays they allowed each other. Three of the choices were no-brainers. The last two? He's given a lot of leeway from a presnap standpoint, so you never know where he'll end up. He did a great job of diagnosing plays fast and was a menace in the box for CP. Deville showed great gap discipline and was forceful and aggressive. Solid tackler who is physical. Treyvon Lewis was all over the place and was in on at least 8-plus tackles. He was the most active player on both squads, making tackles against the run in the box and in the passing game to help limit yards after the catch. Like Deville, he's undersized for the linebacker position but made a significant impact against Calvert Hall. He also found time to break up a pass. The game featured a lot of running from Concordia Prep, and Speicher was right there up in the mix of things. Like the first two linebackers mentioned in this article, Speicher is undersized but tough as nails. Definitely a sideline-to-sideline guy that covers a lot of ground and is a sure tackler. Hardy's performance was enough to change my mind. I do have him credited with a few tackles and at least one sack. Concordia Prep didn't get much going in the run game, and Hardy was one of the players up front who made life hard for their offence.
